No doubt this Cowboys team is ranked as 3rd best in NFC. Unfortunately that’s still 2nd best in our division.

And regardless if we have second best record in NFC if we don't win division means it will take 3 wins on the road in the playoffs to reach SB.

That’s not a position of strength for a team which hasn’t had much playoff success. And stacks the odds against us.

And why I’d argue if we want to elevate our opportunity to advance deeper this year which is our apparent goal we must win division and have at least one playoff game at home .

So if we win 12 games for the 3rd consecutive season and go 1-1 in playoffs you want to start over ?
Absolutely. Being good is not enough, unless you have enjoyed watching other NFC teams play in the Superbowl for the last 27 years. Dak has had more then enough chances to prove himself, if he dosen't do it this year you kick him to the curb and bring in someone else. If JJ thinks there is someone better out there to coach the team then bring him in also. I'm tired of living as the "Groundhog Day" football fan. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity

Firing your HC and QB with a consistent playoff caliber team is insanity.

well if any team has 12 wins 3 years in a row, and loses in wc round or div round all 3 times, something needs to change.
either qb, HC, or something.
Dallas hasnt won a div round game since 95 , so to actually show improvement they have to win in div round.

Also many feel this is a SB roster, so if they lose in div round again, that would be considered a failure.
Then something has to change, either qb, HC, or both.

Well the jones boys are insane, and a little stupid, so I dont know that the "Groundhog Day" will end as long as they are running the circus.

Insanity is losing in the playoffs with the same crappy QB play and expecting different results.
First of all thinking Jethro could fetch another available HC with MCCarthy pedigree, assuming they’d even want to come here, not to mention finding another QB.

No, you have to let it play out despite the frustrations. Sometimes you just don’t have a good enough team to beat the greater teams.

I’d argue we have been beaten by better teams.

I’d also argue the SB hype is over played.

Not sure how we can be a SB team if we can’t even win our division which we aren’t expected to do?

Unless we can go get a Mahomes, Burrows, Wilson or some of the Elite QB’s out there or have an Elite defense , it is what it is.

The premise of the thread is very true

However just bc we are small underdogs to winning our own division doesn’t mean it’s some massive upset if we do, like you are making it out to be.

Good points,,, our strength of schedule is tougher than the other WC contenders as well so they could easily be left out of the playoffs and still be better than the WC teams going.

Well if that is your ceiling as far as how good you want your team to be then I guess you're happy. Myself, I would like to see the team return back to what they were in the 70's or 90's when it was expected to see the team fighting for the Superbowl every year and anything less was not acceptable.

I didn’t mean or realize I presented winning our division as a massive upset.

My intent was the importance of winning our division to avoid needing 3 playoff wins on the road to reach SB.

We all would like to return to such prominence but it’s not likely under Jethro.

We aren’t winning championships without an Elite QB and or Elite defense . Problem is there aren’t enough Elite QB’s to go around .

The rest of the league has to build around their less than Elite QB best they can. And it appears that’s what we are trying to do.

I’m not sure we can have those lofty expectations at this time . Anymore than anyone else without one of those Elite QB’s or Defense .

Maybe at some point we can draft or trade for one of these Elite QB’s . And maybe we can develop and build an Elite defense which looks like a greater possibility at this time. If we do then our QB might be enough.

so you cant say they have failed yet , it remains to be seen.

or have an Elite defense.......... our defense is elite .

if you look at points allowed and take off the ones that came from offense turnovers , I would venture it is elite.
They just need the offense to not give up easy points.

The next logical step is to win in the divisional round and appear in the NFC title game. How they get there does not matter.
