I don't see winning the division as a priority this season. I say get in the tournament and then take care of your business in the playoffs. The Eagles are getting so overhyped by the media. The pressure is on them.
Overhyped but with reason.

Eagles are the best team in the division/nfc. If they were older and future looked bleak, it would be one thing , but this team is stacked with 25 year olds at qb , rb and wr and te on o and defense, especially the d line, is 8 deep at least. They are the standard.

Prior to the new playoff formatting that began in 2020, you recall that each conference had two division winners that were given a first round bye. Unde teh new system, thee is only one team from each conference with a playoff bye.

For the seven seasons prior to 2020, both SB participants had received a bye, all 14 teams.

Over the past three seasons with the new format 3 of 6 received the 1st round playoff bye.

The Cowboys must do more than just a division championship, it is all about seeding.

I would say top seed or bust !
1 game at home wont help.
The Cowboys have had the top seed twice in the 2000s. Top seeds have only lost twice in the divisional round in the 2000s. Both times it was the Cowboys.

Seeding doesn't win anything. How you're playing in January does. McCarthy's SB win came as a 6-seed. They won 3 road games to get to the SB.

No doubt this Cowboys team is ranked as 3rd best in NFC. Unfortunately that’s still 2nd best in our division.

And regardless if we have second best record in NFC if we don't win division means it will take 3 wins on the road in the playoffs to reach SB.

That’s not a position of strength for a team which hasn’t had much playoff success. And stacks the odds against us.

And why I’d argue if we want to elevate our opportunity to advance deeper this year which is our apparent goal we must win division and have at least one playoff game at home .
I think whoever wins the east will be in the NFCCG.

Why are the really good regular season Cowboys so soft in the playoffs?

Man besides last year we have been owning the East during the season. We've beaten the 49ers and we're 1 series from beating them this year, the Cheifs are beatable and anybody else. Good Lors man have SOME or a LITTLE faith in your team. Or just go be fans of the others you mentioned smh
I’m an old local diehard going back to the early 60’s so hopping on another team isn’t an option. I know many fans around the country have abandoned their local or regional team to be a fan of Americas Team.

These last 3 decades have been very difficult to have more faith and I’ve become more of an apathetic fan. Fortunately I’ve had some experience supporting a less successful team as my Alma Mater for most of my life has been a Dormant and hapless football program.

I guess it depends on what your definition of what an elite QB is. Considering Dallas has spent years bottom feeding for QB's either using undrafted walk on type QB's or other teams rejects we will never know.

Just imagine if Dallas tried using a 1st or 2nd round draft pick on a QB. At least that would show they are actually trying to win.
I think this is why they acquired Lance being a former 1st round pick.

Well if that is your ceiling as far as how good you want your team to be then I guess you're happy. Myself, I would like to see the team return back to what they were in the 70's or 90's when it was expected to see the team fighting for the Superbowl every year and anything less was not acceptable.
Idk why people are obsessed with saying this as if it's true lol. It's total nonsense.

There is a huge gap between "having a good team that makes the playoffs every year is good because it gives you a shot to contend" and "I'm happy never winning a Super Bowl."

The best team doesn't always win, and not winning doesn't mean anything for next year. Say the Cowboys win 12 games again this year and lose in the NFCCG - moving on from that group (HC, QB) would be totally stupid.

Oh he is our next QB in Jerry's mind. But again everyone knows Jerry loves his pet projects, unfortunately most dont work out. Lance is just another teams reject Jerry wants to run with. Sorry but no one gives up a QB that they paid 3 first and a 3rd for that quickly unless that player has bust written all over him.

Now we have him, problem is he will never get any game day experience unless we lose Dak for the season and Rush just bombs out. So depending on if we dump Dak after this season or we go with him next year also we will be looking at a player that hasn't played a full season of football in 5 plus years becoming our starting QB. Yeah dosen't that just scream Superbowl for you.....

People are sleeping on Wash IMO. This division is going to be tough
Good sleeper pick. Washington year instead of a Giants year this go-around. Just hope it doesn’t squeeze us out since I’m assuming Eagles will be good again.

Need more than the NFC east. They need to secure that first seed. If they can do that I believe this team will be in a NFC championship game this year. If they have to go on the road I don't believe they will do it. Another divisional round loss or one and done.

I think it’s more about facing better teams who we don’t match up well against. We have struggled offensively against top defenses as well, even in regular season.
Well , that's not optimal.
I said in another thread that Jerry's good ship lollypop demeanor trickles down to the team.
Great teams play with an attitude and an edge that our teams seem to lack.
Jimmy's team played with swagger.
