Win Or Lose

I wonder what happened to joy after winning?

I'm not talking about the over the top "we're better than sex" stuff. Just the joy, gladness, happiness, or whatever you want to call it.

This is the strangest season I've ever experienced. The team has never played this well as far as wins and losses, yet after every game it seems like the focus is on what is wrong more than anything else.

Some of that isn't bad. Some of it is just plain deflating. It started with the first game of the year and it hasn't abated one bit. Each week someone feels the need to remind everyone that "its' okay to express doubts about this team." But it's not good to express joy.

At least it doesn't seem like it. I get the feeling a lot of you genuinely dislike each other. I'll be honest, I don't really understand that. I've never met a Dallas fan in my life who wasn't fun to shoot the bull with in person. Yet behind a monitor and keyboard people act like they can't stand each other.

I'm not asking for there to be unadulterated optimism and Koolaid everywhere. But is it too much to ask that some of you at least enjoy it?

It was probably a mistake to post this. It just seems like a lot of you are pissed tonight, and some of you have seemed that way all year. Especially at each other.

If we were in a sports bar we'd be shouting and high fiving. Instead we come back here and treat each other like crap.

Win or lose, the reaction doesn't change much I guess. The petty dislikes are more important than the historical roll the team is on.

Yeah, I bet it was a mistake to post this. But I'm pretty good at making mistakes, so better it be me than someone else. I'll take the reverberations.

I'm loving every minute of this season. After all those 5-11's in the early part of this decade, and the 3-13 and 1-15 of the late 80's, I'll take this any day. Life is good.

I think some posters here are just waiting for the other shoe to drop. There have been so many December and January disappointments in the past three to four years, people forgot what it was like to expect their team to win.

Turkey Dinner might be part of the reason.

We are steamrolling NFC - on course for a repeat with the Evil Pats.

Guess it is nature for people to vent when things are bad

Hos you are 100% correct in your assesment. It was not a mistake to post this. I love to read what the seasoned vets here on this board write; however I have also learned to ignore or not open several posts for this very reason. I also read the articles writtwn by the staffers. I am very happy for the Cowboys and it is a great time to be a fan.

I am flying to Dallas for the Cowboys vs Eagles game and can not wait.

How about them Cowboys!!

I was feeling the same way, I just didn't want to say anything.

The turkey was bad?

The collision course in the Super Bowl is bad?

Steamrolling the NFC is bad?

You lost me.

Hell CC, I got accused of that after week 1. I don't mind dissent. I don't even mind worries. It's the petty infighting that is old.

I think it's hilarious that arguably the best fan forum on the net has all these fans with one common thread, the love of the Cowboys, yet they take take a positive like a win and decide to rip the team apart without even enjoying the win with their fellow fans.

And you are right, the infighting is getting old.

This season has been great. At 10-1 anything less than a Super Bowl appearance will be a dissappointment to me. The joy i feel about my team is awesome. Of course in defeat it will hurt all the more. Maybe some just find negatives to protect themselves from getting hurt.

It's freakin' Thanksgiving. We're 10-1, and people can't stop complaining. As I was leaving the stadium today, I was irked by a radio show caller who started complaining about the kicker.

We flat out humiliate a team, but let's crucify our kicker.

Happy Turkey, Turkey....:)

That's an interesting theory.

A week or two ago I said that I had gotten to the point I was avoiding this board until a day or so after a win because I'd come here right after a game to share the celebration, instead I'd be totally bummed out because of all the negative attitude.

I'm with you Hos....No football team is perfect, not even the Pats....:).....

I'm sure the coaches are aware of the things that may be flawed and will do everything possible to correct them.

As for me I'm enjoying the heck out of how this team is performing....they may not be the 92, 78, or 71 Cowboys yet.... but the 07 Cowboys are in the process of writing their own legacy and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

i'm ignorantly blissful at how we are doing. I will admit I don't know that much about anything in football, but I can't say I am fairweather/bandwagon I have rooted for the cowboys since I first learned about football (even more so when Dat Nguyen played). Each season, I understand it a lot better, and hopefully in a couple of years, I will be extremely knowledgeable to be in the unenviable position of picking at our weaknesses. like I said, until then, I will be blissfully ignorant. but still blissful :starspin

I've been enjoying myself this year like I've been unable to enjoy myself in a long, long time... not only are the Boys winning, they are a high-octane offense that can really put points on the board...

I'll argue with the Chicken Littles, but there ain't a snowball's chance in Hades they'll be able to bring me down... I think that crew thinks I'm putting them down when I say I feel sorry for them, but I really do; if you're a Cowboys fan and you're not enjoying this season thus far, you've had your sense of fun surgically removed... that, or a rather large board shoved up your...

Well, never mind... 10-1, bay-bee... been rooting for the Boys since 1960, never have been able to say that about them... 'nuff said...

Exactly. Right now, people are just afraid of letting their guard down. The last few years of the Cardiac Cowboys have been nuts. We've had some pretty big let downs in some big games. Now, no one wants to accept that this is a damn good team. Hell, soon as we go down a score or two all we hear is "Game over. This isn't a championship team." ...I mean goodness.

But if you looking for a reason for all the battles on this particular forum then you are looking at both sides. People do have the right to express their concerns, even after losses. Sometimes, they blow things out of proportion, but then others escalate the problem with their own flames and snippy/sarcastic remarks. Even making their own threads to call out "negative" posters.

Just dumb. I mean I know its the internet but it is still pretty amazing that we all cheer for the same team on this forum.
