I think I used to enjoy Dallas winning more before I became a part of the Cowboys message board community.

Now, I either log on and read about what Dallas did wrong in its victory, or am busy breaking down what the Cowboys did wrong to have something to contribute.

Spags wrote an article (I think it was about Aikman) about taking time to enjoy what we've got because before we know it, it will be gone. I think we all need to at least make a mental list of everything that is right about this team ... and be thankful for those things.
That is exactly why I started this thread. For me, the way I have my options here set up there are always 25 threads on the page. I wish I knew how to do a screen capture and had done one to illustrate this point. Of the threads visible at the time I made this thread there were 6 that the original message of the thread was a positive message.

One was the game thread. It was still on the page. One was the sticky about the Dallas Cowboys art. One is the remaining sticky about donations. There was a thread that was entitled something like 10-1 baby. There was a thread about bring on the Packers. There was a thread about being close to clinching the playoffs.

The rest were griping about something after a 34-3 win and a 10-1 start.

That sinking in to the people who had snide comments early in this thread? Who are the real "crybabies?" Everyone with half a brain knows who the real crybabies are.

If I had asked every poster on this forum if they take a 10-1 start going into the 5 critical games that will end our season, 100% of you would have said yes you would. Now that we're there it isn't good enough because the Patriots are 11-0.

To hell with the Patriots. They don't regulate my joy. My happiness is not tied to what they do or how they play. Well, unless they are playing the Giants, Commanders, or as they are this week, the Eagles.

I'll be honest with you. At this point I hope they go through the regular season unbeaten. I would then love for them to lose either in the playoffs or the Super Bowl. Preferably to us. I'd rather it be the divisional round of the playoffs to someone like the Chargers, Broncos, or Jaguars. Nothing would be funnier to me than to see them labeled as biggest disappointments.

The Super Bowl isn't played in November. If we can't talk about 10-1 can we at least talk about what we need to do to beat the Packers?

Very well put. I certainly will not let the Pat's success dictate my happiness with the team. We have a great team, whether we win the Super Bowl or not. Sure 72,77, 92, 93 and 95 are the best seasons in our history, but that doesn't mean I didn't derive any enjoyment out of Cowboy Teams that didn't win it all. In my lifetime, I really enjoyed the 1991 and 1994 teams even though they didnt win the Super Bowl. For the older fans 1966, 1967, 1975 1978 teams and many others had enjoyable seasons.

We may win the Super Bowl. We may not. If we don't, it's not the end of the world and should not ruin whatever the team has accomplished to this point. You can't always win, pure and simple. For those that base an entire season's success on a Super Bowl title, well it must suck to never be happy with your football team.

I wonder what happened to joy after winning?

I'm not talking about the over the top "we're better than sex" stuff. Just the joy, gladness, happiness, or whatever you want to call it.

This is the strangest season I've ever experienced. The team has never played this well as far as wins and losses, yet after every game it seems like the focus is on what is wrong more than anything else.

Some of that isn't bad. Some of it is just plain deflating. It started with the first game of the year and it hasn't abated one bit. Each week someone feels the need to remind everyone that "its' okay to express doubts about this team." But it's not good to express joy.

At least it doesn't seem like it. I get the feeling a lot of you genuinely dislike each other. I'll be honest, I don't really understand that. I've never met a Dallas fan in my life who wasn't fun to shoot the bull with in person. Yet behind a monitor and keyboard people act like they can't stand each other.

I'm not asking for there to be unadulterated optimism and Koolaid everywhere. But is it too much to ask that some of you at least enjoy it?

It was probably a mistake to post this. It just seems like a lot of you are pissed tonight, and some of you have seemed that way all year. Especially at each other.

If we were in a sports bar we'd be shouting and high fiving. Instead we come back here and treat each other like crap.

Win or lose, the reaction doesn't change much I guess. The petty dislikes are more important than the historical roll the team is on.

Yeah, I bet it was a mistake to post this. But I'm pretty good at making mistakes, so better it be me than someone else. I'll take the reverberations.

The game ended over 48 hours ago. Is the insulting "happy thoughts only" edict still in effect?

The agenda word comes to mind, and BTW, great thread HOS. If I have something to say about a player, I say it and move on. No need to constantly beat it up against the wall, and get in knock down drag-outs over it, it won't change anyone's opinion ultimately.

I've burned every game on DVD (first time ever) and I hope we have a story book ending. Go Cowboys, and don't stop coming to the game-day thread. It's hilarious...

very accurate and good post. I'm guilty of this at times. We're creaming the Jets the other day, and I'm watching the game, getting all tense waiting for an injury or special teams problem to crop up. I had to shake myself, come back to reality and I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the game from that point on. It's just neurotic anxiety as well as being spoiled from seeing my team win 4 super bowls (too young to remember the 1st against Miami) in my lifetime. From here on out, I'm going to TRY to lighten up. But it won't be easy because I live in Packer country and........well, let's just say I can't stand anything having to do with G.Bay and Favre. We'll let the chips fall where they may.........even if we lose we could still go to Lambeau and win. Not likely, but possible.
