Heres my theory....

People are hard on the team because they want it to succeed.

I would be in a much happier mood if there wasn't an impossible task awaiting us at the end. To win this battle you need exceptional play from every part of our team. You need your special teams unit to not give good starting position to your opponent, you need your offense to be efficient scoring and not miss opportunities, you need your Quarterback to not be "a little off today", and you need your defense to step up against a capable offense.

We won a game against the now 2-9 Jets coming off the steelers on a short week and playing on the road. This isn't the most amazing game to brag about winning. We should have won and we did. Through the entire game I was thinking we cant do THIS or we cant do THAT if we wont to be an actual contender for it all. Our team didn't show it was able to function effectively on all aspects as is needed to fight the juggernaut on the horizon.

Anyway, the packers will be a good test.

This is an MVP season and we are doing remarkable things, but it is all overshadowed by the elephant in the room.

Hos, Hos, Hos... it's hard to believe you're the man who advised us to "embrace the hatred"...

Just think of the nuclear meltdown in here when Roy makes the Pro Bowl again... imagine the fun we'll have, watching that...

Screw all the haters, BIG game comin' up next Thursday... I honestly believe the winner of that game will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs... it's likely these are the two NFC teams that will have first round byes...
Yeah, but I never said hatred should be internal. I love it that other people hate us. That's the greatest feeling in the whole world.

I reject the belief that everyone hates us the way some feel. That was the whole point of that thread.

I don't care what others think about this team. I really don't. That stuff amuses me.

I agree. I come to the board after a win and all I see is the sky is falling threads. It's like watching the Tuna in a press conference after a win. He could find negatives after every victory.

Maybe that's what happened to some folks around here. They watched the tuna so much, he started to rub off on em a bit. Just a theory I suppose.

How sweet it is to be 10-1.:star: :toast2:
I think you hit the bullseye Kojak. We've been assimilated into Parcells don't get too high on ourselves mentality.

I hadn't even considered this, but it has definite merit.

i am in the boat with some of the other fans. I have been watching the Cowboys for 33 years now. I remember the feeling I would get when Roger would take the field in the last 2 minutes down by a touchdown.. you just knew it was a win, he was going to do it. The feeling of watching the 90' cowboys as they made history, 3 out of 4.. you just knew they were going to be there at the end of the season.

I am starting to get that feeling with this team, but for some reason, I just can't let myself go. I can't have blind faith with this team. Maybe it is the big letdowns of the last couple of years. Watching the team fold like a lawn chair. A buddy of mine just today said, "your team is looking damn good" and I said, yes they are , but I am waiting for the wheels to come off.

I think this game coming up will have a big effect on me and what I feel with this team. I just want my team to show up and play like they want to win, in a big game. That is what has been missing for several years now and once we are able to get that back, I will have that blind faith again.

But for now, I am just enjoying these wins, but taking them with a grain of salt also. I do love the make up of this team. Romo is quickly becoming my favorite player of all time, but he still hasn't caught Roger in my book.

I do agree that the griping about this player or that player is getting old. No player is perfect and no team is perfect. We are 10-1 and it is a great time to be a Cowboys fan again.

I think that a lot of complaining has to do with the way New England is playing. Since they are perfect this year, anything we accomplish is going to be overshadowed until they lose or we beat them. I am glad that we are 10-1 though...11-0 would be better!

That sounds like jealousy.

Leave that to the Eagles and Commanders fans.

for me it's definately the post thanksgiving letdowns of the past 4 years. How can anyone forget the Philly Christmas Day Miracle which sky rocketed that team into the playoffs ast year, the New Orleans "FB pass" Exposure, the Detroit debacle, or The Hold

I'm really taking it all in stride, it's way too early to get excited, because I got excited last year, and was dissapointed. In fact I probably won't be "giddy" until we're holding up the Lombardi Trophy. I'm a big fan of just making it week to week, and not getting over confident. The time to celebrate will come soon enough.

Those happened under Parcells all 4 years and no doubt about it, they crush hopes.

In previous seasons I think people would get genuinely happy after a win. This year not so much. It's weird.

I definitely believe it's New England. For the first time since the '85 Bears, it seems like everyone else is playing for 2nd place. I have to say that has sapped a lot of the fun out of this year for me. It's as if the Pats are so dominant you already know how the movie is going to end and it's not a good ending.

I've realized however that even if NE goes on to an undefeated season and wins the SB, this year's Cowboy team, with Romo now firmly established as an elite franchise QB, is a preview of coming attractions and you know Jerry is going to sell out this off-season and beyond to put the final pieces in place to bring all of us Cowboy fans our 6th Lombardi. That will make for a fun off-season and a bright future.

good points all around, I think with success you have to expect a higher standard of course. In prior seasons, just beating the Eagles would have been good enough to celebrate. I think the last game of that sort was last year in transition when we were still trying to figure out what type of team we had, and Tony Romo outdueled Peyton Manning. There was pure joy in that win.

Now as everyone has previously mentioned, you look across your shoulders and see New England playing great, you see the Packers playing great, and "good" all of a sudden doesn't look so well. We're not in the class of just making the playoffs anymore, we're in it to win it all, which commands a higher grade of criticism. It comes with the territory.

...wouldn't have brought up this topic.

I'm one of those who can't believe my eyes so I don't talk about the good times.

It's so bad that since we began this year I have been watching each and every game with my two sons and my daughter drifting around the house while the game is on.

The only game the Cowboys have lost is the one where my oldest was unable to watch with us - the New England game.

My superstition is so bad that I pulled all three kids out of school to watch the game with me for fear of bad luck not having the house set in exactly the same manner as the previous (9) wins.

This year I haven't watched a single game at the Army /Navy vets center as is usually my tradition. During Remembrance Day I met up with some of the Vets and I had to tell them of my superstition and why I haven't been showing up on Sunday afternoons.

So don't tell me about our record and let's talk about this team as if we are still a 7-9 team for fear that any positive discussion will jinx us.

Of course I reserve the right to do a 180 as I please.

I'm enjoying the hell out of this season. Lord knows how painful it has been the last 10-12 years. I surely don't want to go back to that.

I've never enjoyed a season watching the game as much as I have this one. I don't think I've ever seen a team combine joy and toughness together the way this team has.

Witten running down the field 40 yards without a helmet.

Barber stiff arming Rodney Harrison right out of his senses.

Romo not falling on the ball and gaining a first down from 30 yards deep. Him winking at defenders.

Everyone smiling.

I don't know, its just infectious for me. I can't help it.

I wonder what happened to joy after winning?

I think everyone is expecting something bad to happen... Wow... when we lose our 2nd game... this forum is gonna go manic... LOL

Chances are we will lose another game this year.... those dissenters are just waiting for that... so they can come out with "see.... I knew it"

All I can say is... we are winning... not only are we winning... we are pretty much all of our games decidely.... its not like we are the Chicago Bears from about 4-5 years ago where they went 13-3... that was a team that "fell" into wins... we are not that team. We are stepping on necks.

It is what it is.... what it is.... the best start ever for the Cowboys. Thank you
