Most fans are passionate about the team they follow. Do you feel players of today care as much about winning & losing?

I'd say yes it's important to them and more so because of all the work they put into a season. It's not an easy task being an NFL player. You have the bumps and bruises along with possibility for bone chilling injuries on any given play. As for loyalty towards a team or fan base that went out the window a long time ago for most players not all.

I personally don't think they do. I think there was more animosity between opponents back in the day and now everyone is chilln, snapchatn, hugging each other. When you hate someone, winning and losing becomes more important.
Getting autographs exchanging jerseys and smiling because your buddy on the team you're playing just scored a touchdown.

It is so different now, not saying it's right or wrong, it just is. It's just a different generation.

I prefer the old school way, myself. That's why it doesn't really bother me when players, from other teams, can't quit talking about the Cowboys. Let the hate bubble up. I find it amusing. I just wish we would smash them in the mouth more when it happens lol

I think for many winning and losing is very important. These guys are competitors, they are the ones who put in the work and who put their bodies on the line, who play with pain that would have most sitting at home for a weeks or longer yet are back on the field playing

I do think there are guys who are in it for the paycheck and nothing more but they don't last very long.

I think the Cowboys players do, if everyone is the RKG Garrett likes to be the makeup of this team.

I count our good Sunday's and bad Sunday's in our household with wins and losses. 9 good Sunday's so far and 2 bad haha. (Two games were on Thursday):lmao:

I think it's probably about the same ratio today of players who want to win vs. those who don't care as compared to 20+ years ago.

Guys like Romo (this older, more mature version) lives for this team and plays for his legacy.

Then you have guys like Jay Ratliff, who are literally there to just collect a paycheck. And once they get that first good contract, they're checked out.

That and with free agency/social media, there isn't nearly the amount of loyalty to one's team that there used to be.

I think the way the game is regulated these days has a lot to do with the new dynamics. You don't have as much of the violent dirty plays that are going to lead to hatred, compared to 20 years ago. Look at the Titans / Broncos game, I don't think too many players on those teams are hugging after the game.

I know that winning was much more important in a financial sense back in the day. Players used to have off season jobs to get by financially and use training camp to get back into playing shape. Winning meant playoffs which, in turn, meant additional money to support their families. They were truly "hungry" to get wins and the playoff shares that came with that. None of that is true today. Heck, players today give no thought to intentionally doing things that result in fines that are more than what some older players made in a year. Yes, winning is important to players today, but more so in an egotistical sense, IMO.

I don't watch many NFL games and get the vibe that it doesn't matter to them.

They may be a little more buddy buddy with their opponents now than in the past but the intensity is as good as it's ever been.

In general, I think that the fans are much more concerned with wins and losses. That's not to say that the players don't care, but I think there's a mutual respect among the players that makes it hard to harbor any kind of animosity.

Plus, even if they lose they're still getting paid a boatload of money.

I think FA is why you see the game as it is today. Todays enemy is tomorrow teammate. In a era of minimal player movement teams were pretty much family who you battled along side year in and year out and these created some very heated rivalries more so than you see in todays game.

Considering how people flip out after a loss .. any loss .. in any season .. no matter the record, I would say most fans today only care about winning and losing. If the Cowboys win several games in a row, every player should win the MVP and Garrett/Linehan should be Coach/Asst.Coach of the Year. Lose a game and those awards are an afterthought. Lose two games and players should be benched/cut and coaches should be fired.

I am not judging fans as we all react and support our favorite teams in our own ways, but overall, I would say most fans care more about winning and losing more so than in years past. Maybe it's the short attention spans most people have now, but if your team wins, everyone involved is great. If your team loses, not so much.

So because they are friends with other players and don't have a hatred over a game, they don't care about winning?

This logic makes zero sense.

Depends on the player. Some players want no part of opposing team's players like Josh Norman. Other players like OBJ, they'll hang out and shoot the breeze with the enemy.

To me when I played, it's all mind games. I don't know you when you're the opponent.

The players are much smarter and wiser than they used to be. And that is a GOOD thing. They take their cue from the owners....who have ALWAYS treated it like a business FIRST. And thus, the players do to. And I am glad they do. Seeing Earl Campbell today....or watching documentaries on Mike Webster...or reading about Andre Waters, Junior Seau, Dave Duerson etc....owners are not dying over this game or going cripple over this game or undergoing multiple surgeries over this game....like it or not....this is entertainment.
