With Jerry's Commitment To A Parcells' Style Team, Who Is Our Next HC?...

Ok nostradamus, you mind telling me how you know this?

I am not Nostradamus, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

On October 29, 2005, only halfway through the first year of a six-year contract, Weis signed a contract extension with Notre Dame. The new 10-year deal, worth a reported $30 million to $40 million, will keep Weis at Notre Dame through 2015.

He is not leaving Nortre Dame.

Holmgren or Stoops. TO would have alot of fun with Stoops. As long as TO is here you need a NFL vet HC. The ideal Head Coach is a guy named Jimmy Johnson.

Holmgren wouldn't surprise me.

Charlie Weis is the guy I have a gut feeling that Jones is really wanting.....it could be a done deal .....really

There has been talk that there is an NFL "out" clause in his contract. I don't know if that's true or not, but if so, it would make him the front-runner for the job. You know Parcells would highly recommend him to Jerry and also highly recommend Jerry to Weis.

Does anyone have info about an NFL "out" clause in Weis' contract?

I have no idea if there is one or not, but logically I would say he does not.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there was a whole lot of speculation going on that Weiss would leave Nortre Dame for some of the NFL vacancies soon coming up and that is when Nortre Dame signed him to this mega contract only six or seven games into his first season as head coach.

I would say Dallas has a better chance of landing Brady Quinn next year in the draft than Dallas has of getting Charlie Weiss to coach the Cowboys.

You do not even want to know what I think the odds are of Dallas getting Brady Quinn either, unless Dallas plans on winning 2 to 3 games this year.

Ok, I did some research. Here is an interesting report from a web-site called ND Central...

PERFORMANCE CLAUSE/NFL BUYOUT IN CHARLIE WEIS CONTRACT

Notre Dame Central is reporting that Charlie Weis has a performace clause in his contract stating that if the Irish have back to back losing seasons, the Irish can rescind the terms of the contract.

There also remains a buyout clause for NFL teams to come in and get Charlie Weis. Although it is much higher than it was when he first arrived in South Bend, there is a buyout option for Weis and NFL teams. Keep in mind, with someone like Weis, money will not be an option for NFL teams if Weis is the guy they want. I know Weis has said he will be with the Irish through the 2015 season but he must continue to win and if he wins too much everyone knows that the NFL will be calling him home. There is no one that wants Weis coaching the Irish more then ND Central but there are terms in his contract the public have never been totally aware of.

I'm officially on record saying Charlie Weis is the guy I want!!!

They call him Tuna Jr. He would be the ideal pick. My pick would be Groh who I think is a little more Parcells ish as far as scheme. I believe UVA runs Singleback an 34 exclusively as well.

Darkhorse is Haley. I like him a lot. I think he was the guy Tuna yelled at protecting him from the officials that one time. Haley showed serious fire.

I have no problem with people wanting/hoping Charlie Weiss is the next head coach.

The reality of it is that it is extremely unlikely that it will happen. Believe it or not, some of these guys have enough money that they do not need the headaches of an NFL job.

Charlie Weiss won three Superbowls in New England as an assistant, and then took a job where he is worshipped and and adored not to mention handsomely paid.

Sorry just do not see it. Sure it is possible in the "anything can happen" category.

BP "could" coach another four years and Jimmy Johnson "could" come back to coach the Cowboys, but the reality of the matter is that it most likely will not happen.

Since when are contracts meaningful as far as keeping a guy in place? Contracts are changed all the time.

He's got a buyout clause. As much as Domer fans want to believe that their program is bigger than god, it's not. The Notre Dame Fightin' Irish are not the Dallas Cowboys.
It's all roses and doughnuts for Weis now, but there are few fanbases worse than the Irish when it comes to unrealistic expectations and out-of-this-world sense of entitlement. Weis is going to make stupid decisions. Weis is going to lose more games.

There isn't a huge difference between the hassles at ND and the hassles at an NFL program.

The original buy-out clause was for $1 MM I believe. As far as I know the details of the second contract haven't been leaked, but like this report states, most people assume that it is much higher than $1 MM, which was kind of low.

Jerruh GET R DUN

Assume Jones is indeed committed to the new offensive scheme and our 3-4 defense, he'll likely go with a branch off the Parcells-Belicheck tree. At this point I can't of anyone who might be of interest, but we will see in 1-2 years whenever Parcells decides he's had enough.

Some of you want Weis but decision will be whether Weis wants the Cowboys and Jerry Jones & the hassel of replacing Parcells--particularly if we can win a SB before he leaves. As for Zimmer, he could be the guy but, when Rams expressed interest in him, the Cowboys made no effort to stop it. So Zimmer may work for Parcells, but he may not be one of Parcells guys.
