With Rico coming on as of late, can we start to cancel the Henry talk?

Hats off to Rico, nobody thought he would be doing this well when given touches. At the beginning of the year is was a running back by committee and nobody knew what we had in Rico. We didn't know if he could carry the ball a lot of times.

We all wanted Henry, Henry wanted us, we know what took place next. With the running that we're doing with Rico can we dismiss the Henry talk? I'm not saying he's better in anyway so please don't go there!

I was watching the radio show and someone mentioned the Cowboys wanted Rico to keep running the ball, he had just gotten two good runs, but signaled he needed a break! It was said the Cowboys wanted to keep feeding him

Rico ran with some pop last year as well.

Hes a solid overall rb but I one thousand percent am against the process that led him to being our starter.

Its the idea they banked on him and a shell of Zeke to be our rushing attack that makes me sick.

To make matters worse it took these coaches half a season to see what was already reported in camp. Rico is far and away our best back.

Next off season I dont want to bank on Rico again either. I think we can let him test the market and comfortably match whatever he's offered. That said I hope we can draft a rb with speed to be a part of the attack. We need someone who threatens to house it.

That should have been canceled when we didn’t sign him

Yeah, that's the main thing. Rico isn't a fast guy. He's big enough to go between the tackles. We need a faster guy to come in and switch things up on the defense. Vaughn isn't it. I'll be surprised if he's even on the roster come next season. He's a good story, but the production isn't there.

I'd rather they draft Jeanty if he's there at 12 but I know even if he is it will never happen

They haven't given Vaughn a chance. It's pretty obvious he's improved from last year. The OL has been crap up until the young OGs started playing.

I agree knowing Jerry they would love nothing but to give him a huge deal

He's not blazing fast but for a bigger back if you can say, he has some wiggle or he's shifty

Here are some things that happened this past off-season that gives all the Jones boys talk of “free agent RB’s are too expensive” garbage some perspective:
  • The e-girls signed Saquon Barkley this spring and structured his deal where his cap hit this year is $3,8 million. Zeke is getting $3 million this year.
  • The worthless addition of 3rd string QB Trey Lance in 2023 for a 4th round pick is worse when you consider Lance will earn a base salary this year of $1,055,000 and a roster bonus of $4,255,714, making his total compensation for the 2024 season of $5.31 million.
  • Let it sink in and marinate that Trey Lance is making $5.3 mil this year compared to Saquon Barkley‘s $3.8 mil.
  • Derrick Henry’s total cap hit this year in Baltimore is $5.1 million, which is less than what Trey Lance is making.
So forgive me when I get a little disgusted when I hear one of the Jones boys say “we couldn’t have afforded those guys”. On that ridiculous point consider this:
  • If the Jones FO had signed Cedee and Dak in the spring they would have had the cap flexibility to go after several significant FAs. Even if they chose to move on from Dak which many here wanted, they could have done the same with some other cap moves.
  • I don’t want to hear the Jones boys whining about cap space. Baltimore is paying Lamar Jackson an avg of $55 million this over five years; Philly is paying Hurts over $50 mil a year for five years. Yet somehow their FO finds a way to build a great roster.
Lies are catching up to this front office.
