With Rico coming on as of late, can we start to cancel the Henry talk?

Rico ran with some pop last year as well.

Hes a solid overall rb but I one thousand percent am against the process that led him to being our starter.

Its the idea they banked on him and a shell of Zeke to be our rushing attack that makes me sick.

To make matters worse it took these coaches half a season to see what was already reported in camp. Rico is far and away our best back.

Next off season I dont want to bank on Rico again either. I think we can let him test the market and comfortably match whatever he's offered. That said I hope we can draft a rb with speed to be a part of the attack. We need someone who threatens to house it.
I do think depending on him (alone) would be a mistake. I don't have a problem based on his play this season with him being part of a two-man rotation if he returns for cheap. It's hard for me to be comfortable with a running back who hasn't proven much in four years until just before his contract is up. Some of that has been health, but that's one of the reasons to be wary.

He is averaging 4.5 yards per carry for his career and has averaged 4.1 and 4.8 the past two years. I'd like to see him be the relief who comes in without a big dropoff when the starter needs rest. Would have been nice to see him in a No. 2 role to Henry, so I don't feel better about not signing Henry. But there's little use in looking back to what could have been.

  • The worthless addition of 3rd string QB Trey Lance in 2023 for a 4th round pick is worse when you consider Lance will earn a base salary this year of $1,055,000 and a roster bonus of $4,255,714, making his total compensation for the 2024 season of $5.31 million.
  • Let it sink in and marinate that Trey Lance is making $5.3 mil this year compared to Saquon Barkley‘s $3.8 mil.
Well, Lance does play QB so it's a little different.

Rico has always been there. It's the offensive line that's coming on by zone blocking.

But he is qb 3. The Jones’ are paying $5 million for a guy that couldn’t even get on the field when Dak got hurt instead of paying for a starting running back. Also the 4th round pick they gave up in the trade could have been a starting running back.

I'd rather they draft Jeanty if he's there at 12 but I know even if he is it will never happen
Why not? I wouldn't love it - I believe you can get really good backs on Day Two - but I can totally see the Cowboys doing it.

Stop with these attacks on Jerry and Lance trade. He achieved exactly what he set out to achieve, Dak signing a reasonable contract knowing that we had a successor franchise QB.

Rico/Zeke then provide the (cut price) running game.....in Jerry's mind he's thinking i'm paying over $90m CAP to a passing game.

Since week 9, he is 2nd the leading NFL rusher behind Barkley........as stated before, he's quietly pricing himself out of Jerry's range

He wont be here next season. He's a pretty good/serviceable workhorse RB2, but he'll get a better contract (as a RB2 FA) than Jerry can/WILL offer him. In any case, as you say, we need to invest in a RB1, someone needs to get into Jerry's ear about how prime Zeke helped Dak as teams cant sit deep in zonal coverage. It's not either/or Jerry, the running game will open up the pass.

Why wouldn't you take a far superior running back like Henry?
The media mention it, and even he can comment on it 'AFTER THE FACT', but he was never a realistic option. If he was coming, he should of been the headline at the trade deadline last season in an ALL-IN push to supplement a much stronger roster..... (in hindsight it was lucky we didnt).

This year's a soft reset, or an acceptance that we'll mail in this season.....Zeke and Rico will do (especially as Jerry's thinking is that 'ive just laid out $90m per on the passing game).

Hats off to Rico, nobody thought he would be doing this well when given touches. At the beginning of the year is was a running back by committee and nobody knew what we had in Rico. We didn't know if he could carry the ball a lot of times.

We all wanted Henry, Henry wanted us, we know what took place next. With the running that we're doing with Rico can we dismiss the Henry talk? I'm not saying he's better in anyway so please don't go there!

I was watching the radio show and someone mentioned the Cowboys wanted Rico to keep running the ball, he had just gotten two good runs, but signaled he needed a break! It was said the Cowboys wanted to keep feeding him
Apparently the attention Hog in you, can't

to be blunt this is a pile of crap

Yeah. Now that the season is over. What good is rico dowdle now?! Disgusting.

They haven't given Vaughn a chance. It's pretty obvious he's improved from last year. The OL has been crap up until the young OGs started playing.
With all due respect, what evidence is there that Deuce has improved? He's got 11 carries for 30 yards....3.0 per carry

I do agree with you that he's not been used much but we can only assume that the coaches aren't seeing enough from him in practices.

Rico Dowdle is averaging 4.8 yards per carry behind this " crappy" line

No lol DH would've been doing it all year and maybe would've changed some outcomes
