Pay him what they owe him and then use the 5th year option.
If we're an 8-8 team without Zeke, that says a lot about the QB.
The Patriots, the Rams and the Saints were all in the top 6 in rushing attempts per game last year.until the dallas cowboys can average more than 22 points a game they are not going to be able to compete with the better teams a run first team is not going to win a championship they have to fix the passing game and score more points
By your standard not a single player on the team can help us win in the playoffs because they all were part of the rams loss, and many were part of the loss against GB 2 years ago. Your viewpoint is neither realistic or fair. One player, by himself, is not supposed to carry the team, and this talk about a "savior" is just fan drivel. In addition, a lotof players were part of the team's first shutout in years, and in the loss against the Rams, but everyone that didn't play well in those games is not suddenly eliminated from the list of important players that can help the team win in the future. The reality is Zeke is a huge part of what even gives the Cowboys a chance, and the fact he didn't play well against the Rams doesn't change that. He's an RB, he isn't winning us crap. He was part of our first shut out since 2003, and the almighty Zeke was part of the game in 2017 that sent us home packing when he was supposed to come back and be our savior. He also had a whopping 2.4 YPC against the Rams.
You care about a playoff appearance, I care about trophies. Zeke isn't getting us those.

Oh my..If it's obvious, then why bring them up? We aren't in a similar league anymore. Rules changed, elite RBs don't carry teams any longer. Time to move on.
I think you are confusing Zeke with his OL.
By the end of the year..
we were starting 3rd stringers.
Give up the OL..
and Dak and Zeke are pedestrian
Without Zeke this team is a 5 win team.
Oh, so that's why EZ was getting met in the backfield. Great ranking service!!!!!!The offensive line was ranked well for rushing - and if a top 5 pick needs a stud o-line, then he isn't exactly winning us games, now is he? That would be the O-Line.
And people are kinda forgetting here, Zeke is in his prime now. It's not coming later, he's not going to peak - he's already at it. Either he gets us a trophy now, since he's the reason we are "winning games" or it's not going to happen in the very near future.
And we've had those same red zone struggles since JG took over the O. Hmmmm....The lack of points isn’t due to a lack of yardage though. The passing game, after Amari Cooper was moving the ball well enough, combined with a top notch running game, to score a lot of points.
The issue was the redzone offense. Both the passing and running game struggled in the red zone and didn’t convert into TD’s often enough.
Nicely done.By your standard not a single player on the team can help us win in the playoffs because they all were part of the rams loss, and many were part of the loss against GB 2 years ago. 100%! I think the Cowboys have a window with Zeke that they should use to benefit from his unique skills while shoring up those area that are holding them back. TE and RB are two areas that need to be improved upon. Getting Fred back is an instant upgrade. Zeke is probably my favorite player on the Cowboys, but I just can't see paying a RB 8 figures over 5 years. The risk of declining output from the RB position is significant.Train, is the dependency a necessity due to struggles in other areas?
B-b-b-but that’s different.We were an 8-8 team 3 years in a row with Romo.
Drew Brees went 3 years in a row where he only won 7 games. Aaron Rodgers is 10-12-1 in his last two seasons.
Sometimes even the best QBs need talent around them.
I want to keep EZ, but I do not want to overpay. I'm of the opinion we let him play out his contract, then maybe franchise him for a year or two. Here's the danger in too much in the RB1, not enough left over for the RB2 and that's the contact position in the skill positions. If they were going to allocate 10M to RB's 1 and 2, I would rather see 6/4 or 5/5 than 8/2 or 9/1. He's going to want to eat up most of that RB money, that's what that feed me thing is about.
wait...don't dak lovers make the same case when they say best rookie ever because he went 13-3? and best first three years record ever..... I don't get it.Right, one guy managed to win all those games. Not like it was a team effort or anything.

btw, this is not far from the truth...... when zeke had 100 total yards this year, dallas went 9-1, when he had less than 100 yards we went 2-6..... zeke's performance has a huge impact on this team.
last year even with all the drama around zeke, 6-4 with him. 3-3 without him and struggled to single digit scoring in 3 games.
for this team to succeed, either zeke or some other competent RB, like Bell....
Yep.I think the dependency on a second rate coaching staff is stagnating the Cowboys offense and making them easier to defend.
