A couple of weeks back I posted a thread that intimated charges were expected to be filed. I have a couple of cousins who are cops in Texas and they have a friend who is a cop near where this happened. Through their grapevine some of these details were revealed and that is why these officers all believed charges would be filed.

It is common for a victim who has been drinking to not want charges pressed because they feel like all they are going to do is be forced to relive an awful memory and be publicly painted.

Rape is the most under reported and under prosecuted crime in the world because of these types of things.

Yep.

I read the entirety of the DA's statement, and the problem appears to be that one, she was too drunk to remember everything perfectly (imagine how that looks in front of a jury), and two, there are obviously no security cameras in the bathroom. Plus of course not enough DNA evidence.

As sick as it is, the whole thing sounds like it was orchestrated so that there wouldn't be enough evidence for him to get convicted. Sounded like this wasn't his or his crew's first rodeo.
And judging from a few stories I've heard about him in bars around Pittsburgh, long before both the Nevada and Georgia things happened, you would be accurate.

Rooney said the Steelers' image and Roethlisberger's have been damaged because of the incident.

What about the girl Art?

This is exactly what's wrong and why I was calling them all hypocrites the other day. As this story progresses (goes beyond their control) it gets worse and worse and the only common refrain among these people pondering 'discipline' is image.

God forbid they mention the victim and how this might affect her 'image', self or otherwise.

If no charges have been brought it's because of who this low life has behind him and that's the giant corporation that's more concerned with it's image than with humanity.

The plot thickens......

Questions remain about the handling of the matter by Milledgeville police, and the Milledgeville officer who took the initial statement from the woman accusing Roethlisberger has resigned from the police force, the Tribune-Review has learned.

During the investigation, Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents learned that Milledgeville Patrolman Jerry Blash used salty language to describe the young woman, who was drunk. Reassigned from his night patrol duties, Blash, an 8-year veteran of the force, had his photo taken with Roethlisberger and several other officers earlier in the evening of March 4.

Chief Woodrow Blue Jr. said Blash resigned Wednesday afternoon.

"He no longer is an employee here," said the chief, who insists that Blash's role in the matter didn't compromise the investigation because the case was handed off quickly to detectives with the department and with GBI.

"His actions that night were consistent with our policies and procedures," Blue said.

Blue said the restroom where the woman said the assault took place was locked, but police didn't mark it with tape to indicate it was a crime scene and a janitor who didn't know about the incident mopped it with Clorox bleach and Pine-Sol, potentially destroying valuable evidence before GBI's investigators could survey it.

"Naturally, we would have liked to have been in there and had a good look at the scene before that happened," said GBI Special Agent in Charge Tom Davis. "It's very unfortunate that any potential evidence might have been destroyed, but it's also important to remember that usually the more important evidence is collected from the alleged victim, not from the scene around her."

I'm old. I've learned, where there's smoke, there's fire.

Also reported on WFAN was that Ben's "bodyguards" are off duty cops. That's adds an even more disgusting stink to the whole thing, if true.

From the same article I quoted earlier....

According to Garofalo, his entourage — which included off-duty Pennsylvania State Trooper Ed Joyner and Coraopolis Officer Tony Barravecchio — "even asked our age and were kind of surprised when I said 19 and the other girls, 20." Throughout the evening, according to witness statements in the report, Roethlisberger ordered shots of tequila and called for young women to drink them.

I'm sure the cops and the janitor had no idea what was going on.

This case is so sick on so many levels.

Exactely! You know that I have a retired brother who was a cop in Dallas. We were talking about Ben the other night and he almost said the same ber-vatim to what you just said.

Is ber-vatim the right way to say that?

There's no doubt in my mind that he raped her.

All the people defending Big Ben saying "I need more facts"...are you series? What else do you need? The videotape? Sorry, that just "magically" disappeared. The whole thing is extremely sketchy and you know Ben just paid her off.

I've always hated this sack of ****. Ever since his comments on ESPN about Romo, I've always just lookd at him like a ******bag.

Remember the story where alot of his teammates didn't really like him? Does this make sense now? I'm sure he's the biggest ****** on the planet.

How do you know he paid her off? I don't think he did. Maybe he should have, but it doesn't look as if he has paid her anything. Even if he has paid her off that doesn't prevent the DA from pursuing the case. The DA just didn't think he could prove rape beyond a reasonable doubt. I can see that since rape is hard to prove and based on some responses I have seen on blogs and such there are a few out there who are unreasonable in their defense of Roethlisberger.

verbatim you mean.

Yes, Rape and sexual assault are generally some of the most underreported crimes often because the victim knew the perp.

Well he got away with it on a criminal level, but alas we don't pay the final penalty on this earthly plane.

It's happened twice now. How you don't get that is beyond me.

Now, again, tell me the stories about all the recent QB's in the league that are being accused of this same type of behavior...not once, but twice.

If I'm in a sleazzy bar with a bunch of drunk broads, and I'm rich and being accused of something I may have not done, then yeah, it's my fault for being there in the first place.

:lmao:

Yeah, just wait until that actually happens, then tell me how you feel.

it must be the gold digging 20 year olds that are out there.

Got it.

;)

You may be on to something here.

That is funny. I am actually quite calm this afternoon. You should have seen me yesterday.

We will never know what truly happened, which is unfortunate no matter what did happen. If he raped her it is a terrible thing. If he is falsely accused of rape that is also a terrible thing. The difference is that he can probably deal with being falsely accused of rape much easier than she can deal with being raped.
