Jason Witten: "Very reassuring" to hear Garrett will remain head coach. "The guys in this locker room would do anything for Coach Garrett."

I'm willing to give him one more shot after this season's letdowns, to turn it around IF the lockerroom really does believe in him (and he puts an emphasis on acquiring a worthy safety this offseason)

Without romo Garrett would have a similar record to campo.

Doubt it.

Campo was a defensive minded coach. His defense teams ranked 22, 20, 13. So in his three years, he cracked the top half of the league once.

Compare that to Garrett. Offensive minded coach, and his offense has been in the top half every year. This year, we are in the top 5.

So comparing Garrett to Campo isn’t going to move me. I call bs.

Campo with no QB had three 5-11 years. Garrett with Romo had three 8-8 years. Swap QB's between those two and I think you see Campo closer to 8-8 and Garrett closer to 5-11.

Bottomline, Campo and Garrett are both puppets in the Jerry circus.

That counts defensive scores. Football Outsiders' advanced stats had our offense at 11th in DVOA, which sounds about right.

So barely top third of the league with Romo, Witten, Dez, Murray, Smith, Williams and an O-line that was pretty good this year and had good health.

That's not above-average coaching.

Campo needs a qb to have a defense in the top half of the league?

Garrett has romo running his unit.

Campo took over and lost all his key guys. All we had left was Woodson.

Give Garrett witten and let him build the rest and get back to me with his units rankings.

Did you watch the team under campo

Quick question.

How do you think year four of Dave campo would have played out compared to what parcells did?

Now ask yourself how you think year 4(8) of Garrett will play out as opposed to someone who knows what they are doing.

It's all on Jerry but we should have won this division two years in a row.

my opinion is our head coach is not the problem. how is that trolling? you are lucky I'm not a mod btw

Good. I don't care about your opinion. Matter of fact, I welcome it for some comedy during the off-season. What I question is when you call folks ignorant, as you have no idea what that means. Let me give you a hint, the guy who called his HC a trainee and made the comments in my sig line is ignorant but you seem to have a problem with fans who don't want a novice as their HC. Now that's ignorant........

In any event, I guess I should ask why I'm lucky you're not a mod?

Im BAFFLED by the defense of Garrett in this thread. I see the references to "Garrett Defenders" all the time in here, but have never seen die hard defending of this guy until now. Amazing...sure hes not the ULTIMATE problem, but how anyone can say he has this team on the right track? Mind blowing...

I think it would be hard for Witten to say anything else, especially after the emotional roller coaster of last night's game. And I think it's in the nature of players to want continuity of leadership. It just makes their lives easier. And they, like anyone else, have no idea if a new coach will be an improvement or a disaster.

Written is one of the greatest players in the history of the franchise.

I believe him.

If this team would play every game like last nghts..

..we'd turn the corner easily.

But they haven't.

We need more layers of support with this team.

We need a GM to help Garrett and to be a buffer b/w the HC and owner..

..we need a better OC than Callaghan..

..let him be the OL and offensive assistant coach.

Add layers and stop micro managing.

Is there a game management seminar for pro football coaches? Wait, no such training should be needed at this level. Never mind.

.

this is what i said in another thread

that shyster (jerry) locked up romo long term to ensure that the team will remain competitive and will not be 4-12, 3-13 bad so the out cry from fans and media will be muted and the discussion will be around "mediocre" and not "putrid"

so, jerry has this time to play with his toy and try to prove that he is a "football guy"

I am torn over this honestly. I like Garrett, I don't think he is the worst coach in the history of sports as some have said but I think it is time for some new blood also. I want to run the ball more and give the O line a chance to take over the game. I don't think that is in Garretts DNA so I was ready to move on. I think Garrett gets a lot of blame for mis managing games when the real problem is a player not executing his assignment correctly, i.e. a hold on 3rd down that stops the clock. But it is what it is, 3 8-8 seasons in a row, losing 3 division championship games to end the year each of the last 3 years, I would have personally made a change. But I can see Jerry's thinking on this and I am ok with decision to bring him back.

Three seasons of not executing plays is no longer on the players, it's on the coach. If your players cannot execute the plays you design, at some point, your design is flawed for the players.
