Exactly. It's a lot more complicated then "uhhh would you take a paycut at your job ?" (I truly don't understand why people throw that quote around, obviously it's completely ignoring the context)

In the real world pay cuts happen all the time, especially with artificially bloated salaries. Why would the NFL (where you have a more limited shelf life, a team pay cap, and way less opportunities) be any different?

Yeah we get it, "i'm a man and a man doesn't take a paycut would you at your job" sounds cool but that's not how the real-world works

Especially a pay cut to a multi million dollar salary compared to someone earning 30 to 50 K a year. There's no comparison. That's comparing apples to oranges.

...I personally dont feel Zeke wants to leave. He's vested his young life here.

So yeah, he'll do what it takes to smooth things out.

Especially when the pay cut still has you making more than the open market projects to be.

I'd bet he takes it and stays a Cowboys, unless the cut is really, really insulting. I think Zeke loves being a Cowboy and his teammates. If the money is close to what he'd get elsewhere, he will stay.

Zekes still the better back, I just want him to stay 3 more years. He needs to stay long enough for Tyron and Tyler to get a full season together. Then he’ll go back to getting 100 every other game:

Lmbao. Go back to getting a 100 yds every other game? It never ends with you.

Ok I just checked. The same rule applies however. Even though he's not guaranteed the money, he's an 11M dead cap. They are paying a minimum of 11 million no matter what. His cap hit is 16M. Not much room for a pay cut.

They can designate him a june 1st cut and spread the $11 million in dead money over 2 seasons.

I hope he does. Hopefully he recognizes he’ll never get 10 million again unless it’s on incintives
He might have to if his agent is saying "Yo Zeke, you might want to consider what Dallas is offering you."
Stable environment should be a real consideration, and you already got paid well.

Our next RB1 will be drafted next April.
There are a few really good prospects at RB in this draft, that Longhorns RB is just a beast, but he will be a high pick.
Lots of RBs to consider and would be foolish not to take one in rounds 3 and after.
Ive been watching a lot of college ball this season, first time I have had that much time to watch, and there are some really good RBs to consider, no need to burn top picks on one.

We can get a rookie to do his production, hell the third stringer looks more explosive to me. I won't take Zeke's specialty of short yardage and blocking, but that is all he has.

Is Jerry gonna charge fans less at the ticket office? Will Jerry and co. take less money on TV deals? If not, Zeke should not take a pay cut for nothing.

What???? Would you take significantly less money to do the same job you are doing? Everyones answer is no dont be that guy
We could argue he’s not doing the same job he was initially paid for . He’s not carrying the load anymore sharing his duties .

Extending him for a much more cap friendly deal would certainly be an extension of his new lesser role.

If his role isn’t the same or lessened then of course he should take less. I’d argue he’s already taking a lesser role sharing his duties with Pollard.

Zeke is no longer our every down RB with 20-25 carry’s a game . His role was reduced last year.

So it would be absurd to pay him the same for a much lesser role . And I think he’d be a fool to not accept as he’s wayyyy past his prime and no other team is going to pay him accordingly as he has been for a leading role .

If he’s unwilling to accept his new role then his career is probably over.

I think they restructure and make Pollard a offer.. But Pollard may get a better offer.

Why do people still want Zeke on this team? There are a dozen RBs in the SEC that could come in tomorrow and be more productive.

Wonder if Ollison has anything left, I thought that Ollison would be the call up if Zeke were to miss anytime, but they went with Davis instead.
Doesn't matter now since Davis has to remain on the 53 or he will be unprotected.
Only way Ollison sees the field is by injury at this point
