On Around the Horn, Paige says to not let this marinate till the end of the year before making a change. Says we need to go out and get Shanahan right now because he has had success with quarterbacks in the past.

I'd like to avoid all the posts saying "Paige is a hack/idiot/moron" if possible. I just wanna see what people think about making a coaching change right now to get this ship on track???

I just dont see it with shannahan.

I dont think he can even hire a competent staff honestly. His defensive coordinators and defensive player acquisitions have been nothing short of complete disasters.

This is the nfc east, you have to be outstanding at defense to survive.

We're now taking advice from Woody Paige and Colin Cowherd?

I want wade gone as soon as possible. As long as he is on the sideline the culture of mediocrity will continue.

Shanny is my first choice but I'd take almost anyone to get rid of wade philips and his never won a playoff game career. He's a loser and it's all he's ever known.

I doubt JJ makes any changes until after the season ends.

And I'd guess that he'll go with a more proven coach than a young, inexperienced one.

This isn't baseball.

No coach worth anything is going to come in here mid-season. They will want an offseason to get their personnel, their systems and their types of players in place.

Shanahan is not going to walk in here to run Garrett's offense and Wade's defense, so all of the talk is pointless.

Barring something funky like Wade agreeing to step down to DC (which is all he really is anyway) and someone being put over his head, this is what we got for the next 12 games.

i like Shanahan also, and Cowher, but i tell you what, this idea of Jon Gruden is really growing on me lately.

i just think we need a little bit of Chucky to light a fire, b/c i said it in a couple of threads yesterday that i just don't see any emotion to fire guys up when things aren't going well.

He's 3-6 in the last 9 games right? I think we're sinking real fast. Getting by on the idea of hope is just gonna ruin this season.

I'd prefer to have the change made now. This sucks.

I hear you, but if JJ could deal with Campo's 5-11 seasons, I think he'll probably wait it out this year with Wade.

JJ SHOULD have made the change this off-season, IMO, like many were suggesting.

Shanahan's line scheme is very much incompatible with our linemen. You better hope they can assemble a line out of what's otherwise available if you bring in Shanahan. And pay for it. Shanahan's personnel decisions are also pretty spotty.

Campo wasn't expected to do any better. Wade is.

We need to awaken the soul of Lombardi so that he can possess the body of Wade Phillips. It's our only hope.

Get R Done Jerry.

Does everyone realize the Shanahan won only 1 playoff game from 1999 to the time he was fired? 1 playoff win in 10 years. In that same time frame, Denver only one the division once and had three first round losses as a wild card team. In the past 10 years, he had 6 seasons below 10 wins and 4 at .500 or worse.

He won two Super Bowls because he had one of the best QBs of all time, one of the best TEs of all time and two pro bowl WRs, all of whom were there before Shanahan came into town.

Shanahan is a good coach, there's no doubt about that, but he's not the savior that people think he'd be.

Skip Shanahan and go with Gruden, but not until the end of the season. 2-2 isn't the end all and a coaching change now would destroy the team. Gruden has the fire that Dallas needs, and the offense mind that they are lacking. He's from a football family with a dad who was an assistant at Notre Dame. He has the coaching pedigree with stops at San Francisco, Green Bay as a WR coach, Philly as O-coordinator, Raiders as a head coach, and Tampa as a head coach. While it's a given that he won the Super Bowl with Dungy's team, what he did at Oakland was fantastic.

While I doubt he'd take a demotion, Wade Phillips staying on as D-coordinator and Gruden coming in as head coach at the end of the season would be my second choice behind Wade and Garrett winning the next 12 games.

So, will Shanahan be the defensive coordinator as well, because if you fire Phillips, you're going to need one of those too.

Right now, I'd take a one-toothed donkey with 3 legs over Wade Phillips. So, needless to say, I'd be on board with Shanahan.

Why not wait until Jeff Fisher gets fired? He went 13-3 last year and lost in the first round of the playoffs and now his team is supposedly underachieving at 0-4. Sounds just like what Dallas needs.

Has there ever been a coaching change midseason (on any NFL team, not just this one) that actually resulted in immediate success? I can't see a coaching transition working; at this point we're stuck with Wade until the end of the season. We should have gotten rid of him last offseason because it's too late to do it now.
