In that same time frame, Denver only one the division once and had three first round losses as a wild card team. In the past 10 years, he had 6 seasons below 10 wins and 4 at .500 or worse.
He won two Super Bowls because he had one of the best QBs of all time, one of the best TEs of all time and two pro bowl WRs, all of whom were there before Shanahan came into town.
Shanahan is a good coach, there's no doubt about that, but he's not the savior that people think he'd be.

Gruden has the fire that Dallas needs, and the offense mind that they are lacking. He's from a football family with a dad who was an assistant at Notre Dame. He has the coaching pedigree with stops at San Francisco, Green Bay as a WR coach, Philly as O-coordinator, Raiders as a head coach, and Tampa as a head coach. While it's a given that he won the Super Bowl with Dungy's team, what he did at Oakland was fantastic.
While I doubt he'd take a demotion, Wade Phillips staying on as D-coordinator and Gruden coming in as head coach at the end of the season would be my second choice behind Wade and Garrett winning the next 12 games.
UVAwahoos;2994166 said:Why not go with Gruden right now and fire Garrett. Keep Wade on as "assistant head coach" and D coordinator. Hire Gruden under the guise that the offense is just not getting it done and hope that you can convince Wade to stay in a similar fashion to how you convinced Garrett to stay a couple years ago.
How would this NOT immediately jump us back into contender status? Romo has the talent...he just needs the discipline. Garrett is an idiot. I think our offense has the pieces right now. The Colts and Giants are doing more with less.

I'd like to avoid all the posts saying "Paige is a hack/idiot/moron" if possible. I just wanna see what people think about making a coaching change right now to get this ship on track???

First, I think Jones has made it blatantly clear he doesnt believe in coaching changes during a season.
Second, nobody decent has ever, to my knowledge came in DURING a season to replace someone else. Shanahan, Holmgren or whomever are going to need the offseason and TC to implement their systems and evaluate the personnel.
Football is not like baseball in terms of switching out "managers", there are too many dynamics involved.
