That was a world class pass by Ronaldo. Maybe a handful of players in the world make tht pass as perfectly as he did

It's still possible to advance even with a loss against Germany.

but it was just as bad a play by the USA, i don't know who the tall dude nearest the ball was but he had no clue where the guy was that scored. He was just waiting for the ball to come down to his foot. All the hell he had to do was just get in the way of the ball. There were 3 freaking USA guys that didn't even try to see where the other team was and they had plenty of time. It was like 3 defensive backs staring at the QB and letting receivers run by them.

The frustrating thing is they had the win. If they simply wouldve done what all good teams do late, keep passing the ball they wouldve won. a couple more passes and that game is over.

Yeah if Portugal beat Ghana, and we lose, then they would have to make up the 5 goal differential. If we lose by one, they have to win by 4 or more.

I just can't believe they worked that hard for 90 plus minutes and then just play lazy the last 10 seconds.

Germany and the US both advance with a draw against each other, and so both sides will have every incentive not to take chances.

Well, that sucks.

I bet we wish we had Landon Donovan there now instead of Bradley.

Ronaldo showed why he rated the #1 player in the world, that pass was exquisite.

Also the US showed us why they are no where near the competition. Their level of play is just not on par with other countries and the sooner everyone realizes that soccer is not a majority sport here the easier it is to understand the lack of talent we have in that sport.

Guess I'm a Portugal fan Thursday. At least it wasn't a game winner.

I do not see how Michael Bradley had a career in Europe. I've never seen him be more than mediocre. Botched gimme goal. Constant errant passes in the middle of the field. He was basically walking the entire second half. Dude's 27. Lazy effort at the end basically started off the run that resulted in Portugal's late goal.

Why does Soccer have to be "=" to NFL Football?

BTW: Nothing to me will ever rival NFL football in terms of entertainment, but:

Soccer IS a great sport. It's played world wide by MILLIONS of people. And it's a sport anyone can play. It's a physically draining and emotional game.

I invite anyone to tune into an EPL , Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga game and not wish of that kind of backdrop for an athletic contest, never mind the World Cup. It's exhilirating and I would think would be a tremendously addictive atmosphere to be a part of.

I always respected the sport because of it's conditioning and strategy. I was never a huge "pro" soccer fan until I discovered Fox's coverage of the EPL on Saturday AM's. Now I DVR the games each week or at least tune into the EPL recap shows.

The best thing about a pro soccer contest to me is this:

Despite a team being clearly superior in tactics and skill- an individual on the team MUST make a play to win. Meaning there's a puncher's chance and a chance for heroics in each contest- especially when all the teams are high-level as on the World Cup stage.

NfL is nothing in the World Stage. I am European and nothing even comes close to football worldwide. World Cup is the biggest trophy prize of all sports.

I do not get some of the futbol rules. For example, what determines how much time is put at the end of 90 min?

Trust me that was just a routine cross and nothing really special. That cross is performed in Europe all of the time.
