Seems to me they are one and the same. Both are free to sign anywhere they please and pretty much do as they wish with whom they wish.

Any player that is cut or released is unofficially called a "street FA" - basically players that can be picked up at anytime by any team. Zach Thomas was a "street FA" because he was released by the Dolphins. That's why we were able to sign him prior to the FA period which began Feb. 29.

Signing a possible pro-bowl WR who is probably cheap due to his injuries in what would likely be a low risk/high reward scenario, not to mention we don't have a solid number 2 receiver?

As I understand it, by your wording here, then every player after his initial 4 years would automatically become a "street" free agent, which would start Feb 28th/Mar 1 most years. As long as someone isn't tendered an offer, after the 4th season they are then "Street."

A street free agent is just any player you can pick up off the street. So yeah, if a guy is cut or released at any time then he is available to be signed by any other team.

They would become an UFA, meaning they can only sign with another team during the FA period. They don't become a street FA because that is just any player who is currently released or cut and they can sign at anytime with any team, not just during the FA period.
