Justin Smith to the 49ers for $45 million.... coming off a 2 sack season.... a bargain at just $22.5 million per sack. Absolute insanity! If Jerry had signed that deal, we would be marching on Valley Ranch with torches and pitchforks. Some of these teams have no clue.

And he's never played in the 3-4. He's a bit bigger than Ellis I believe, but still not the size you want out of a 3-4 DE and probably way too big to play 3-4 OLB.

I doubt it. Half the board would be making excuses and defending it all the while bashing anyone who dared say it was a horrific deal.

Worst FA signing ever? When Jerry signs Javon Walker over the next few days.

We once signed a guy (wr) named Anthony Miller...remember that? Now that was bad!! Or, how about another guy named Carl Pickens, who was so out of shape (hamstring problems) he just retired before the season started!! And don't forget, 'Dat Dude'! I have to give the 'Niner's a flyer on this one. But the money that Justin Smith was given is crazy!!

I disagree. Smith isn't going to need to get huge sack numbers there. They're just hoping he can get the 100 plus tackles again, that he got for Cincy last year, and keep Willis clean. He isn't going to be used any more hardcore on the pass rush than Canty and Spears are here.

If he gets anything over 4 sacks this year and gets at least 80 or more tackles, to help keep Willis clean, the Niners will be thrilled with the pick up.

Actually Javon was cut. So that wouldn't technically be a FA signing. It would be like the Zach signing.

True that.

"You guys this team is starting to worry me, we are not playing like we are capable of, I hope we pick it up"
...Followed by "Wow you're such a a chicken little, we are 13-3 and will crush any team we face in the playoffs, we have no worries"

Yep.

It's the difference between being objective and being a blind homer.

Pretty sure that Reeves five year $20 million contract is the worst signing ever.

Negative...anybody who thinks Justin Smith is the worst FA ever has been watching football for about 10 minutes...or less.

:laugh2:

I don't hardly disagree. It's gotta be in the top 10 easily.

Might be a tad overstated but I certainly get your point. Although we shouldn't be too surprised, considering that just last year they overpaid Nate Clements in record fashion. Don't look for their GM to be there very long. ;)

that makes zero sense, after being cut, Javon is a Free Agent, which would make it a Free Agent signing.
