12. Mesidoor
20. CJ Allen

This honestly would not surprise if we get wiped early but man this would be tough to swallow. This would be the definition of reaching for need and I am not a fan of old prospects with injury history.

What do you think?

I agree and its why I really am hoping for a trade up.

That said, I think both these guys are really good players who will help the team immediately.

Age doesn’t bother me, we are going to see older prospects come out with the college nil landscape. There are several older players like Scott, Stukes to name a few.

Mesidor if medically cleared could be the 2nd best edge rusher in this class. Some believe he is better than his teammate Bain. He is also considered one of the most ready prospects. I agree 12 is high, but there is a drop off at the position after him.

I have heard reports the Cowboys have cooled on CJ Allen due to his knee. Reportedly, they are highest on Hill, Golday and Trotter, I would be surprised if they took Allen at 20. Now hearing Rodríguez could go to either Carolina or the Steelers in rd 1

I believe they are either trading up or back. In this scenario, there should be attractive trade up options for other teams. Land an extra pick in the process

I am just not very impressed when a prospect doesnt start playing well until he is a few years older than the college competition.

That is a hard hard pass picking that close to the top 10.

I think trading up would be horrible unless it costs a late pick.

I remain confident a great player will fall I just dont know if the Cowboys will make the right decision.

I like Mesidor, but I would hate to walk away with that. I think Allen has real bust potential too. I can see him being below threshold to the point of ending up unplayable

If our board is wiped that means one of Freeling or Fano are there. If you cant move down, just take them

The messidore injury stuff is a little overblown. Yes he had surgeries on both feet. However he did not miss a game for Miami for the last two seasons and that includes the CFP and national championship game.

If Bailey, Reese, Bain, Downs and Delane are all gone....I would imagine that Messidor, Thieneman, McNeil Warren, Hood and Terrell are probably the top defense players left on their board unless they also like Parker and Faulk.

Now I doubt they would take offense. Maybe if Love fell to them at 12 they might think he is too good to pass up.. I doubt they would look to take Oline, Doubt they would take the TE from oregon and unless they plan on trading Pickens, I doubt they take WR.

I am fine with trading 20 for a high 2nd rd pick if it meant guaranteeing an impact defender who most likely will be long gone at 20. Also, I feel pick 20 to say 40 will have similar 2nd rd grades.

He played well before his transfer to Miami.

Only player I would trade up for is Bailey...not doing it for a low value position.

C'mon unplayable? Can't be serious. His floor is Bolton from the Chiefs.
Yes he could wind up unplayable of he is far enough below thresholds. His movement is not fluid at all and could wind being a liability. His floor definitely isnt Bolton. He could wind up a Jammin Davis, Zaven Collins level player. People talk up instincts, but they often forget that if you are have below threshold athleticism that puts at at risk of being a bust just like poor instincts

So if the goal is to win a SB within the next few years.
Why would Mesidor's age be an issue.
You can get a good 8 yrs out of him if he really ids that good. Get a SB win or even 2.
Would that not be worth it?

Much rather take a chance on an instinctive linebacker who actually can take on blockers, then an athletic type that is too slow to react like we just saw with Murray.

If we are talking about a top 40 pick, I'd rather take someone that has a bit of both. Its not so much his athleticism that worries, its fluidity. He is very janky. That can be a real problem both in the run and pass. Lee wasnt a great athlete, but he was very fluid and was able to get where he needed to be, when he need to get there. Thats a problem I can see Allen having in the pros and the reason why he worries me. To me he is far more likely to be an Anthony Hitchens than a Sean Lee. Im fine with that outside the top 60. Inside the 60, I want a better player. And Allen probably goes top 40
