That atrocity of a song that sting, bryan adams and rod stewart did immediately comes to mind. All for one or whatever..where i worked back then they kept a the radio on a top 40 channel, that freaking song was always on.

Yeah he is a cool guy. I respect the backstreet boys because of AJ.

If you know who NOFX is my other friend is married to el hefe.

I saw NOFX live once, but I really went to see one of the opening pop-punk bands, can't even remember which one now, because starting to get old. Oh wow internet knew who, it was in 98 and says No Use for a Name, I guess that was who.

No use for a name, pulley , midtown, NFG, homegrown, pepper, all those bands were great around that time. But for me it was always sublime... Man I loved their music since I first heard them. I even like Sublime with Rome to be honest.

Yeah but for some reason I think it was a band that I had an obsession over at the time, only one comes to mind is China Drum, or maybe one of the Fat Wreckchords bands that were lesser known.

I disagree that American Idiot made them big though. They released their International Superhits album 3 years before American Idiot was released.

I didn't mean that it made them big. In another post I mentioned the album "dookie", so I knew they were a well known band in the 90s and especially in that time frame. Basket case was probably their most well known song, but there were of course others like when I come around, and welcome to paradise, and I forgot brain stew which was on insomniac.

Just American idiot seemed to push them up a notch in popularity and everyone pretended that they had loved green day since day one. American Idiot was a lot like Enema of the state in that regard, but not to that extreme of an extent. Everyone was already familiar with Green day before AI. Mot many people knew who Blink was until what's my age again.

If that makes sense.

I agree with that.

the 90s sold you honestly and gave you crap. there were some good bands to be sure, but the overall feel of the music was just "we're not the 80s".

and NEVER EVER EVER put rap and music in the same sentence. to me anyway. :)

I am probably on your ignore list but I could not agree more with the part I put in bold.
