Would Bowman be a progress stopper?

I think he'd help our LB group, but doubt he comes here.

Why would a guy of his caliber come here?

We've already got 3 starters for 2.5 full time equivalents. I don't think he's looking to be a backup, let alone a backup's backup.

I think we've overspent at LB, but it is what it is. It's a bad fit on both sides. Too expensive for us, not enough play time for him. We took LVE. He's gonna play. Move on.

Bowman, lee , and LVE would be ruthless. Absolutely ruthless. Smith and Wilson can play special teams and be backups

That being said, he's not coming here

If our entire LB corps stays healthy and Bowman comes in and, purely thanks to veteran status, receives playing time over any of the kids, I'd say he's getting in the way of progress.

But we're one injury away from any veteran backup LB on our bench theoretically having a real role on the defense. So if he was willing to play for peanuts, I'd sign him as insurance. But I doubt he'd accept a pittance on a 1-year backup deal like that. I doubt he sees himself as that level of being a cheap insurance policy, which is all I'd be willing to pay him as.

I would like to see a solid rotation of several linebackers playing well 5 or 6 of them that would be nice to see

So if he wanted to stay close to home last season why wouldn't he want to stay close now?

The premise of the thread is that there’s no room for him now. I don’t pretend to know what he’s doing, I’m just going off the assumption that they’re out.

oakland signed Derrick Johnson so no way Bowman is going back there and a SF reunion seems unlikely (although Fosters legal issues could change that). And we are still lacking for depth at LB. but would you still want him (assuming the price is right) now that we have LVE in the fold?
yes..defiantly.

Lee and Smith are an injury waiting to happen.

he would start immediately.
