Would Marion Barber be a better running back if he conserved that energy he uses to

Barber is also the best RB in pass protection. That is why Garrett likes to play him so much.

I didn't see him helping much today.

At least Felix gives us a run threat and a screen threat. Everytime Barber came in the drive would stall out.

That's why I'm not sold on Wade at HC. A real HC would have benched both RW and MB3.

Colombo could have benched .... until Flo went out. Of all the games for Flo to come up lame - the game when the opposition has two really good speed rushers.

Wade has absolutely no control over who is or is not benched. At least not on his own.

Wow, the shelf like of a Cowboys' running back is awful short according to this board.

2 years ago, he wasn't even the freakin' starter and 4/5ths of this board was apoplectic about that. Now he's trash.

never was Startin material IMO :bang2:

feed him to the fishes

I have no ill will toward Barber. I think he means well, but this has developed into an opportunity for us to make a proactive move (well, relatively) and release a player somewhat ahead of the curve.

Granted, being truly proactive would have entailed not extending him prematurely or diminishing his role this year, but you get my point.

I think we're asking for disaster by bringing him back unless we specifically spell out to him that he's going to become our No. 3 back and he's fine with the diminished role. He's always been a team player, but I really think he could become a problem for us next year if we bring him back and then just drop him like a rock down the depth chart in week 1 or 2.

So long story short, dump him or bring him back as a situational (5 carries a game) kind of guy.
