Would QB Malik Willis be an upgrade over Cooper Rush?

Last yeah he couldn't pass. Reminds me of what Stephen McGee was here. BUT, the guy has potential and I'd like to find what that is but they would not let Rush go for him.

Kind of shocked they're already out on him. They must'e never really been in on him to begin with.

The real question is why in the hell would you be in on Ryan Tannenhill? I didn't even know he was still there.
Tannehill can start and probably will until they feel Levis is ready

Willis is probably done..they feel they know what he is already (and they know what Tannehill is) but you cant draft someone in the second and still Have Willis especially when they benched him last season

Tannehill probably already knows hes gone after this season

I’d start Willis and get a 1st overall pick next season and then I would’ve traded Henry. They want one foot in on retooling and one foot out….not sure if it’s a winning strategy.

Malik Willis is a poor thrower of the football, idk what the hell the Titans were thinking.
Bring him to Dallas for what? Cooper Rush is the QB2, and they don't need mire than that. Second thought Willis could help on scout team Philly week.

My goodness, can this kid's talent be this far off or Titan's system is a complete misfit......

It's impossible to evaluate Willis based on last year. It's unlikely he can come in and game manage like Rush, but long-term he still has better upside.
There's only way to find out. The mistake would be to bring him in, because of his draft status, without competing.

Rush has earned his position on the roster, so I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to replace him unless someone beats him out for the job.
With no selections of a QB in any round of the draft, nor a UDFA signee afterwards, the Cowboys basically have declared the starting
quarterback for the future was not in the plans this year (despite what Jones said during Senior Bowl week).
Rush's performances over the last two seasons - no matter how tedious and unmarkable most of his games were - cemented his position to remain the backup QB. Except for that 5-month hiatus back in 2020 (when he was released when Dallas signed Andy Dalton, and was with the Giants' practice squad), Rush is tied with Jourdan Lewis for the sixth longest time in a Cowboys uniform. (Only Tyron, Martin, Lawrence, Prescott, and Anthony Brown have been there longer.)
He will turn 30 y.o. Thanksgiving week - five months after Dak does this summer.
Will Grier just turned 28 five weeks ago; it appears the FO is content with he being QB3.
Keeping the status quo signals the team is satisfied with their QB room for 2023.
Perhaps the prospects likely eligible for the next draft will be appeal to the Cowboys more.

At best, he could come in and compete, or we just keep 3.
But no, he most certainly is not better than Rush at this early stage.

They may like Greer more than Rush.

If they liked him coming out, then they should consider adding him. The traits he had during draft are the same he has now. It’s a lottery ticket as your 3rd qb for now and who knows.

Dear Lord no. He might’ve been the worst NFL “QB” I’ve seen in 30 years of watching the sport.

One of the worse QB’s I’ve seen on an NFL field in a long time. Worse than Nooch! I mean he can’t throw at all

If we want to take a flyer on him and let him battle it out in camp with McCay so be it.

I actually don’t think he is that bad, just some guys aren’t ready to be thrown into the fire immediately, like Zack Wilson.

I realize in the age of huge contracts and immediate gratification that expectations have changed, but what hasn’t is that some players need time to develop.

He has an NFL arm, throws a nice deep ball. That said the fact that an NFL team is ready to bail on a 3rd round pick a year later speaks volumes. When I saw him play last year he looked clearly over matched. Probably needs a year in a lower profile market with a coach that has the ability to devolop a project.

Based on what? They gave them guy Derrick Henry and multiple 1st rounders at receiver with Corey Davis and AJ Brown and he did nothing. Why on earth do you think Tannenhill is anything more than garbage? The only son the Titans are holding on to him I'm sure if based on financial.
They're nuts if they keep Tannehill this season. He's a 36M cap hit, almost 16% against the cap. Half that in dead cap.

I would think the goal is to try and develop a guy like Willis. There shouldn't have been any expectations on him last season.
He isn’t going to win a Super Bowl. Don’t waste your time. If you want an above average QB keep Dak or get someone transcendent like Mahomes, Burrow or someone like that. There are about 4 out there that can win that game.

I dont know how great of a backup Rush is anymore.

One of his biggest strengths was he had the system mastered. If the system is drastically different I'm not sure where that puts him.

He was really impressive at the beginning of his run, but did fizzle out towards the end.
I don’t think the system is gonna be drastically different at all. Some changes but mostly changes in play calling
