Would QB Malik Willis be an upgrade over Cooper Rush?

He was throwing darts the first couple weeks. That Giants game he made a lot of nice throws. Not sure if defense adjusted or he came back down to earth. I agree it was almost all defense the last 2 or 3 weeks, and in general it took a strong defensive effort.
Rush isn't capable of throwing darts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Titans/Oilers have never won a Super Bowl. How many years has that been?

I know that has nothing to do with the topic. Sorry, it just put a thought in my head about how hard it is to win and how difficult it is to have a good qb.
It is very hard to win, but the Oilers had a really good one in Moon for a while.

This is why the "you can't win a Super Bowl with Dak" crowd has absolutely 0 credibility. They all just say things.
Really, because we did pretty well with Rush who has a noodle arm. Tannehill has been a good Qb and a better rating and pretty close on QBR - Since everyone always talks about Daks stats then that is pretty much what we can base this comp on!

The offense was terrible with Rush.

Tannehill can't do anything other than play action. His QBR is good because he only makes easy throws.

He's underrated but he's not in Dak's class. Not even close.

Tannehill had a better rating in the last half of 2021 without Henry than he did in the first half of the year with Henry. I don't think your analysis has any provable merit.

He didn't. Tannehill had a passer rating of 90.2 week 1-8 and 89.0 from week 90-17 - but his two best were 127.1 against Houston Week 16 and 138.9 against Miami week 17. He had a passer rating of 66.4 over a 4-week stretch in weeks 11-14. He wasn't better, and he had the boon of playing bad teams in meaningless games the last two weeks of the season.

But I would also say that Tannehill is forced to play with one arm behind his back - much like Dak, actually - because of the way they run their offense. He has never shown an ability to just sit in the pocket and throw the ball productively 40 times a game though.

Kind of shocked they're already out on him. They must'e never really been in on him to begin with.
Teams don't throw away third round picks. They were the only one at that point in the draft willing to invest and explore.

The idea that they drafted him while being out on him...makes no sense.

What I mean is there are times when a guy is drafted where everyone doesn’t agree on drafting them. Think Dwayne Haskins. That’s typically the case when a guy is gone a year after drafting them.

Willis was absolutely horrendous last year. Add to that the fact that many (most?) thought he would never be a starting QB and it's a huge pass. Maybe it's the inability to throw the ball at the NFL level or maybe he was rushed. I think it's both. I have no interest in him unless we are talking PS or camp body.

There's only way to find out. The mistake would be to bring him in, because of his draft status, without competing.

Rush has earned his position on the roster, so I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to replace him unless someone beats him out for the job.
Depends how Cowboys brass view and consider Willis as a prospect and developmental player, imo.

Would be more competition vs Wil Grier as the 3rd QB, than Rush who apparently still has McCarthy/Schott team impressed.
We did not draft a mid to late round developmental QB, nor did we bring in any familiar name undrafted rookie QB.

So this leads me to believe that it will be the current status quo with Rush, Grier - this team does not have backup competition nor immediate development
high on their priority.
