Would Romo have trade value next year?

No offense to # 9, who I think is a very good player when on the field, but you're including him in the same sentence as Peyton Manning? The Colts got nothing for 1 of the top 5 best QB's of all time.

Manning's situation was different. Because of his neck, teams wanted to work him out before committing to him. Even with all of Romo's issues, nothing has been as serious as Peyton's neck looked at the time.

I'll say this; if Romo doesn't want to be traded, he won't be traded. Indy wasn't going to trade Peyton without his consent, and the fact that they didn't even look for offers (correct me if I'm wrong) likely means he didn't want to be traded.

Jerry is a fans favorite Allie .Their attachment to players though could ultimately cost the team. A GM must make the tough unpopular decisions. It's business and shouldn't be taken personal.

Fans often forget this isn't just a game. Jerry has changed the rules in becoming the biggest fan of not only the Cowboys but himself . It's attractive to some fans but unfortunately it's a major contributor keeping us out of the Super Bowl.
Well, I don't agree that's all keeping us out. Why are other teams, that are not run as a family business, not getting rings?

Bold, Bowlen and Modell disagreed with that premise and so will Kraft when Brady retires. You own something, you can do what you want with it and a sports franchise is no exception. Al proved that over and over and over and the fans stayed with him. And being around Raiders fans all my life, they can talk about Al but no one else better or they'll go on the attack.

I am not defending Booger at all but I do understand doing what the hell you want with what you own. He could care less what the fans or media think about it and he said as much when he said "let them lay down 140M and then they can talk".

Booger is not accountable or responsible to anyone and no one is going to make him so. He's bulletproof and the captain on this flight and if it crashes, he'll still walk away from it unscathed.

He's already said he's interested in coaching .

yes, Jerry is loyal to a fault . Jerry is determined like the Captain of the Titanic or General Custer .

And he now has in place all of the revenue streams to prevent any financial fallouts from any accountability or consequences.

Brilliant and he's about to be inducted into HOF for placing himself and other NFL teams in the same position .
They should have already inducted him the year he steered that first TV deal worth more than the entire NFL and insuring every owner was profitable before one ticket was sold and every player should vote for him because he's more responsible for the level of their income than anyone in NFL history.

Guys above the coaching level go into the HOF for different reasons than coaches and players. Booger missed his calling, he should have been the Commissioner.

Of course but that's why he is highly crucified by fans , critics and the media.

Personally , I look for those who see it for what the effects have been to football operations.

And I said he's a major contributor to us not being in SB not solely why.

His driving forces are completely self serving. Jerry could have ran for Governor or more but serving the people is of no interest to him.

OK, I'll play along. Sorry for my cynicism.

First, I think he'd just retire. This isn't Brett Farve. Romo wants to get it done, but he wants it to be here, or he'd just soon ride off to his next chapter.

Second, it's not worth $5 million in cap space to Jerry and Jason. They'd rather let this play out naturally.

Third, yes there would be interest in him, but not at big money. Too risky. And he wouldn't risk his health for peanuts.

Fourth, we need to slow our roll on Dak Prescott. He's got an ugly game or five ahead of him sometime, and the craze will regress. It happens to all young QBs.

Romo will play and start here until he gets hurt again, or until he wins a Super Bowl. That could be a game or three seasons, or anything in between.

Good post. Lots of good points nuts, especially #4... what have we seen from Dak Prescott - IN TWO GAMES - that has people convinced that he's the next great Cowboys QB? It's one thing t be excited by how he's look so far (I am) and extremely optimistic (I'm that, too). It's quite another to anoint him s "the future" and ready to take over for Romo now. He might be able, and he might be ready. However, I'm not willing to bet on that until he's got a few more games under his belt.

What are points nuts? And shouldn't there be an ' after the s?

I agree but Romo isn't expected back until mid season . We might have a better feel by then .

there is no question that Jerry is attached to his team and its players like no other GM/OWNER.

that's why he won't trade or let ROMO go.
This is regardless of what we believe he should or shouldn't do.

yes, and they'd be willing to sacrifice the future or put in on hold to fulfill these dreams.

They remain all in on Romo until he's carried off the field. Jerry's comments after the win Sunday is another reminder where his loyalty is .

It's always been more about Jerry's passions than the Dallas Cowboys.

its both. i think they are intertwined. Jerry is like that Elmyra character in animaniacs. he loves the Cowboys. His team. His lively hood. But sometimes he hurts them too.

Romo would obviously have some trade value but a team would have to be desperate at QB much like Minn was after Bridgwater went down and feel they have a SB contender to offer the Cowboys anymore than a #2 or #3. Romo is aging and has injury concerns so the best we would get is a #2 or #3.

I don't think it should happen but I think his value is similar to manning a few years ago. Not worth much in a trade because of age and uncertainties of time but able to command top dollar in free agency with incentive based contract.

Broncos weren't going to trade for Manning and his contract but they were more than happy to sign him to a sizable incentive laced contract that cost them 0 picks.
