My answer is YES. And I think the reason is that the locker-room does not have any TRUE leaders. It’s the players that are supposed to police the locker-room, not the coaches, not the owner. This has been, and always will be the problem as long as the current so called leaders that we have- Bradie James, Terrance Newman, Greg Ellis, T.O.- continue to fail to make the locker room the sanctuary that it needs to be. All of these guys have at various points over the last few years, as well as this year, have been talked to the MEDIA about problems or issues with the team. I do not recall hearing about any of these guys addressing the TEAM to get issues resolved.
Today, we read ESPN and local media reports about “Bradie James confronts fan”. Instead, I would have loved to see a report that says, “Bradie James confronts teammates after gutless performance”.
These guys in particular are the ones we heard from when Parcells left about how the team would be better off, and guys would be able to play without fear of making mistakes, playing at their natural weight, playing in a less restrictive scheme, etc.
Well, for some reason the same problems exist.
While it may be true that most of the players do not respect the coaches, it also seems to be true that most of the players do not respect their appointed leaders.
With that said, I am encouraged to have players like Tashard Choice and Orlando Scandrick who play with a lot of heart and passion, as well as serving as an inspiration to the team. Let these young guys lead the way to a needed change in the locker room!
