Would this make Romo's return on 11/22 pointless?

If we were to lose to the Eagles tomorrow and the Bucs next week to fall to 2-7 while the Giants win their next 2 to go to 6-4? I mean at that point I see no reason to bring Romo back because we would basically have to win all the remaining games to have a shot at the playoffs which highly unlikely. Seems like it would make more sense to shut romo down for the rest of the year so he can come back next season 100% healthy if we lose the next 2 and giants win the next 2.

Agree or Disagree?

It won't happen; therefore there is not much point discussing it. Jerry the salesman just couldn't do it.

Now if Romo is not 100% when he is eligible, then it could be a consideration to wait another game or two.

FYI, there was another thread with the exact same question last week.

Bringing Romo back with no shot at the playoffs would mean Jerry is on drugs

There is no way in hell the Giants are beating the Patriots.

They just gave up 52 to New Orleans and you think they'll beat New England? LOL not gonna happen.

I couldn't remember who they played next week so ok it looks like they will 5-5. But we still need to win one of these next 2

you want to watch Romo if we are 2-7? Plus I see 2 more possible losses which can be Carolina on Turkey day or GB in December. So that would be 8 losses right there or possibly 9 if we were to lose to the eagles and bucs

*IF* we did get to 2-7... optimally, as far as future value is concerned, with no shot at the playoffs i'd just lose out and stack the roster

Unfortunately, owners have to make money and a team tanking on purpose (Indy, we all know you did it but you get a pass for now), would probably be liable for recourse from the league.

Patriots are probably still pissed at them for those two Superbowls too...

it would be a chance to see what we have in the 3rd stringer

I will feel like puking if the giants lose tomorrrow to fall to 4-5 and then we turn around and lose to fall to 2-6 instead of moving up to 3-5

Come on everyone, we've all been watching Tony for ten years or so, and there is zero possibility that Tony will ever sit out a game if he is healthy enough to play. It isn't going to happen, and I'm going to leave off the IMO for this one. :)

Yes of course you don't sit out a star player. I don't care if they were 0 and 15 Romo plays.

There's no situation where I sit a healthy Romo. Even at 2-7 I'd still argue that there's still a shot. The NFC Champion just last season went 9-1 to close out the season, including wins over AZ, SF, and PHI in order to get there. And that was without the lift of a franchise QB suddenly returning.

There's no hurry to roll over and play dead. The offseason is long enough as it is. Just try to enjoy the games that count, and hope for the best the next two weeks to buy Romo some margin since he's the most important remaining player who's still out of the lineup.

It would be very weird for a healthy player to not play 7 entire games just because of the team's record/outlook. Tony is on the back nine of his career, he knows he doesn't have a whole lot of time left so each game is precious... he would probably want to play if they were 0-9. Also there's not really a lot of injuries he's going to suffer that would put him in jeopardy for 2016. By that logic, you would see pretty much any talented player under contract for teams like the Browns sitting out half of the season as healthy scratches for the past decade. It doesn't happen.

So we don't see what we have in the 3rd stringer at all the last 7 games if we are 3-8 after thanksgiving. That would be goofy

Here's the thing.

Tanking is the right thing to do for a draft pick. Its just hard to do when you have to tell that to players who are putting that on film for other teams next year
