Would this make Romo's return on 11/22 pointless?

So we don't see what we have in the 3rd stringer at all the last 7 games if we are 3-8 after thanksgiving. That would be goofy

Let him start the last game or something, sure. Not all 7 games. At some point, you have to remember that you are still trying to sell tickets and put an entertaining product on the field. Nobody wants to see Moore start 7 games.

Again, by your logic when the Texans went 2-14 a couple of years ago, JJ Watt should have never seen the field after the halfway point. He should have been a healthy scratch to avoid being injured for the next year.

Not 7 but atleast 3 since Weeden and Cassel won't be here next year

If we were to lose to the Eagles tomorrow and the Bucs next week to fall to 2-7 while the Giants win their next 2 to go to 6-4? I mean at that point I see no reason to bring Romo back because we would basically have to win all the remaining games to have a shot at the playoffs which highly unlikely. Seems like it would make more sense to shut romo down for the rest of the year so he can come back next season 100% healthy if we lose the next 2 and giants win the next 2.

Agree or Disagree?

As others have stated, it's entirely possible that 8-8 wins the division... In 2014 after losing 2 straight and being overtaken for the division lead, Dallas went 6-1 to finish the season and won the division.

But even if it were going to take 9-7 to get in, we can go 7-0 to finish the season... When you have a QB like Romo, you NEVER give up on a season until you're mathematically eliminated... Because any time you get in the tournament, you have a real shot with a QB of Romo's caliber...

You sure they're not going to be here? I'm sure Weeden wont be, but who are we gonna sign instead of Cassel? I'm no fan of Matt Cassel either, but there's also not a lot of good alternatives. Here's the list of QB's set to be UFA's in 2016 http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/quarterback/

There's a few on that list who would be a marginal upgrade over Cassel, but we also have to wonder how many of those guys like a Ryan Fitzpatrick would want to sign with Dallas and be definitively relegated to the role of backup.

I think Cassel wins his next 2 starts and that will be enough for Jerry to re-sign him.

First, I think we can count on the Giants to lose at least 1, possibly both of their next two games. We just have to take care of our business and win our next two, which are very winnable games. The Commanders beats us last year with Coly McCoy... So I think we can beat the Eagles with Matt Cassell. Then the Bucs game can definitely be won.

Lets say we win our next two and NY wins 1 of their next two... That would put at 4-5 and the Giants at 5-5. If that's the case, with Romo coming back the following week, the NFC East is as good as ours. Even if we win just one of our next two and are 3-6... I'd like our chances to finish 2 games better than the Giants from that point on.

An absolute disaster would be if we lost our next two, which I can't see happening. Then again, I didn't imagine us losing our last 5. But to answer the question about to play or not to play Romo... I think he'll play until we're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. That's the only way he'll sit out.

you want to watch Romo if we are 2-7? Plus I see 2 more possible losses which can be Carolina on Turkey day or GB in December. So that would be 8 losses right there or possibly 9 if we were to lose to the eagles and bucs

For me it depends on how far behind we are. If we continue losing when Romo's back too I'd think about siting him especially if we get 5 or 6 games back. I don't think that will happen but we'll see.

Disagree. Sounds like another way of saying lose to get a better draft pick which is always BAD policy

What logic would there be in giving up when you don't know what the future holds yet. That is what losers do. Reasons why teams are perennial losers because they carry that thought in there attitude from the previous year. Why not fight and fight hard right up to the end, them carry that next year.?

We've only seen a brief cameo of Romo this season. The coaches will want to see him play several consecutive games before deciding how urgent the need to find/develop the next starting QB.

While everyone expects Romo to be as good as ever, you never know with a QB of his age. If he starts showing signs of age or wear and tear in the last couple of games, then they know he's only a year or two left.

Romo came into this season the healthiest he'd been in years, he was injured in the first game and knocked out in the second. Another year won't change that. Play him, let reality set in, and maybe we'll take finding his replacement seriously. It's a shame we wasted his best years with no OL.

And then get depress seeing him throw TD passes and thinking what could have been if he never got hurt

By that point, you'd just like to see us win a game. ANY game. Regardless of playoff implications, Romo will play & you WILL watch. Having to accept that our season is over, wont change that.

Disagree. As bad as the division is, we still have life if we lose 7 in a row. 9-7 can win the division. You can't count on those other teams to win enough to eliminate the Cowboys so we should not give up.

I couldn't remember who they played next week so ok it looks like they will 5-5. But we still need to win one of these next 2

That's assuming they beat the Bucs which is no guarantee. The Giants are not a good team. They can lose to anyone on their schedule.

I saw the thread title and thought maybe it was a prediction of 350 yds passing and 5 TD's for Cassel today. ;)

I don't care if we are out of the playoffs Romo plays. You pay him that money to play and to fill seats not to protect him from a sport he is being paid millions of dollars to do.

Bringing Romo back with no shot at the playoffs would mean Jerry is on drugs

No. It would mean he has respect for the game. Regardless of your team's shot at the playoffs, you have to field the most competitive group you can. Otherwise you affect other team's playoff chances. Teams can't just tank it because they are going to miss the playoffs.
