Would this make Romo's return on 11/22 pointless?

You play your guys until you're mathematically eliminated. The end.

There is no way in hell the Giants are beating the Patriots.

They just gave up 52 to New Orleans and you think they'll beat New England? LOL not gonna happen.

That thinking is why Vegas always comes out on top. Never say no way in hell IJS

Bringing Romo back with no shot at the playoffs would mean Jerry is on drugs

If Romo can play they will play him.

Like with Dez's return..

that doesn't automatically mean wins.

There is still alot wrong with this team that has to be addresssed in the off season.

I'd prefer we lose from here on out and try to draft our weak positions and then get back in the mix having fixed the problems.

We are not that far off but Romo will not be the answer.

Romo is the face of the franchise. If he can play, he needs to play. The thought of sitting him when healthy is beyond ludicrous, and if it ever honestly came up, I'd hope he'd ask for a trade. The notion that stupid.

This makes no sense at all. If the season is LOST why in God's name would you risk Romo getting hurt again? What if he hurts his back again or tears his ACL? Next season is over before it even starts. If they can manage to win one of these games of course you bring him back, but at 2-7 the season is likely over and it would make zero sense to risk Tony's health.

if they continue losing like this after tony comes back there will some serious moves happen the hc and his staff will be under lots of pressure

No. There wont be any serious moves. The Offense will stay the same, the defense will stay the same. The owner, front office, and coaches will stay the same. Their excuse will be the injuries and the rusty play coming back from injuries.

If we were to lose to the Eagles tomorrow and the Bucs next week to fall to 2-7 while the Giants win their next 2 to go to 6-4? I mean at that point I see no reason to bring Romo back because we would basically have to win all the remaining games to have a shot at the playoffs which highly unlikely. Seems like it would make more sense to shut romo down for the rest of the year so he can come back next season 100% healthy if we lose the next 2 and giants win the next 2.

Agree or Disagree?

You'll hear otherwise, but yes. Actually, the moment they discovered his collarbone broken his return was meaningless because the season was over. It didn't have to be the case but we have talent evaluators who believed Brandon Weeden was a capable backup QB.

That would set a bad precedent So all teams would start sitting their franchise qbs and all pro players after being mathematically eliminated. So according to the current standings phillip rivers and matthew stafford should be benched for the rest of the season to protect them from injury.

A second reason would be that alot of the players have incentives that are tied to the play at qb. Certain amount of catches, yrds, tds ect. There could be some legal issues tied with benching healthy players when it affects the salaries of others. When i say legal i mean the players associations might not approve those types of decisions.

What it. What if. It's football. He is paid to play.

No **** he's paid to play, but he is our entire FRANCHISE. It would be utterly moronic to risk our franchise if the season is over. There is no need to risk next year if it's clear this season is lost. I don't care if Romo wants to come back. You shut him down if this team is out of it by the team he comes back.

You sure they're not going to be here? I'm sure Weeden wont be, but who are we gonna sign instead of Cassel? I'm no fan of Matt Cassel either, but there's also not a lot of good alternatives. Here's the list of QB's set to be UFA's in 2016 http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/quarterback/

There's a few on that list who would be a marginal upgrade over Cassel, but we also have to wonder how many of those guys like a Ryan Fitzpatrick would want to sign with Dallas and be definitively relegated to the role of backup.

I think Cassel wins his next 2 starts and that will be enough for Jerry to re-sign him.

I don't think neither one of them should be here if we go 0-7 without romo

First, I think we can count on the Giants to lose at least 1, possibly both of their next two games. We just have to take care of our business and win our next two, which are very winnable games. The Commanders beats us last year with Coly McCoy... So I think we can beat the Eagles with Matt Cassell. Then the Bucs game can definitely be won.

Lets say we win our next two and NY wins 1 of their next two... That would put at 4-5 and the Giants at 5-5. If that's the case, with Romo coming back the following week, the NFC East is as good as ours. Even if we win just one of our next two and are 3-6... I'd like our chances to finish 2 games better than the Giants from that point on.

An absolute disaster would be if we lost our next two, which I can't see happening. Then again, I didn't imagine us losing our last 5. But to answer the question about to play or not to play Romo... I think he'll play until we're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. That's the only way he'll sit out.

All that sounds good but I said if we are 2--7 and the Giants are 6-4. But hopefully we can win 1 out of the next 2

So how often do teams bench their stars once they are out of playoff contention?

There's your answer.

First and foremost, the NFL is in the business of entertainment. The Cowboys are more entertaining with Romo than without.

Now you talking silly Was stafford or Rivers hurt all season and could not play? The situation here is if the Giants will 2 in a row and we lose 2 in a row why bring him back and risk injury when it's long shot to make the playoffs

If the eagles win 3 in a row to go to 6-4 and giants win 2 in a row to go to 6-4 and we are in the basement at 2-7, I could not cheer for romo because it would be no point

You're talking silly. Past injuries are irrelevant. If you are healthy you play. You never sit healthy players. It's bad for business ( ticket sales, players incentives ect) , and for morale, and sets a bad precedent. I understand the situation. The situation in San Diego is they are 2-6 right now and have no chance winning their division or wildcard, so wouldn't it be " smart" for them to sit Rivers for the rest the season. Don't want him to have a season or career ending injury do ya?

Hell no. I've watched 5 games of crap and want my guy back! Whether we don't make the playoffs of not I want to win and be entertained! It will suck, but we only have so much of Romo left.

To be completely honest with you, I don't think you cheer for Romo anyway.
