Would we be a Dominate D if...

Dominant is an adjective.

Dallas could have a dominant defense. Dark hair is a dominant gene. Predator cats are a dominant species in the wild.

Dominate is a verb.

The Cowboys will dominate. The Wildcats dominated the Sun Devils. I want to dominate the basketball court.

Sorry, just a pet peave.

So, you are grammatically dominate or dominatingly grammatic?

Henry is hardly the problem and his stats indicate he's an average to above average CB. McAlister would be $$$$. I'd honestly rather have Trevor Pryce with age and $$$ considered.

hos, that makes me wonder how many times I've driven you into a dominate rage :D

I'm sure Hos will give you a few lashings for your inappropriate use of dominate.

we'll only be dominant on D if your pass-rush can pick-up and we also find a way to stop the run effectively

Actually, it is peeve.
I deserved that. Isn't it ironic that when you gripe about a spelling you always misspell something yourself.

Karma.

There are times you both have had me scratching my head wondering what you were trying to say.

Hate and rage? Naw, more like cuss and vent to no one who can hear me.

We can dominate on D if..............Canty and Spears can combine to get 8-10 sacks. Assuming Ratliff (4 sacks), and Hatcher (2.5) can produce about the same amount as last year, and we get modest production from Ellis/Spencer (15 sacks combined) we should be fine on defense.

No, someone hears you

the walls hear everything

The misuse of dominate for dominant, and loose for lose just make me cringe.

Definately.

Should of never misused that term.

We would be a dominant defense if we could generate a pass rush opposite Ware, get production from our starting DE's, get better play from our SILB (James), and get competant FS play.....

Other than that, yeah, we are close.

The best analogy I have for this is a pitcher of ice cold water waking you out of REM sleep.

LOL....

The truth is, in the end, we were far from a dominant defense. And though I see holes in our defense....I do think they can be solved this year (perhaps I am being too optimistic in that).

If Spencer is the real deal (which I think he is), he is going to give us the pass rush opposite Ware we desperately need. At that point, it won't matter a ton if the our DE's production is relatively the same. Though I don't expect much from Canty and Spears....I would be lying if part of me has sipped the proverbial Kool-Aid and expects Wade to "magic wand" them into performers.

And if that should happen, Hamlin will be an upgrade over Keith Davis and Watkins (how can he not be? If he breathes, he is an upgrade).

A pass rush can fix a lot of things.

And though I try not to get my hopes up....I can easily see this defense being fixed....even if I argue otherwise (part of the reason I do so, is trying to convince myself)

I am already hoping we keep Hamlin for more than one year he's signed for. I think he can have a similar impact on the secondary that Thomas Everett had when we signed him from the Steelers. No, I'm not saying Hamlin will go to the Pro Bowl for us like Everett did, just that they had impact on the team.

We have talent ...... and if they are used in the correct scheme we can be great.

Football is a very simple game.
