I think you'd have to trade him to Cleveland first before Denver gets interested.

summerisfunner said:Jerry Jones says Ellis is staying, is it written in stone that he eventually does? nope, but that just means he has a better chance of staying on than being cut
and the Broncos would never go for this trade, they acquired 2 1sts to do something with them in the draft, either take 2 great prospects, or trade up
so in otherwords...it's a nice, little dream
If any team thinks he's going to get cut, they will not budge on a trade for him.blindzebra said:Jones is a salesman, talking up Ellis as having a place in Dallas is damage control to keep his trade value up.

DipChit said:I dont believe Carver ever went to Denver. Probably thinking about Pittman who did for 2 or 3 years and of course Lett was there for a year also.
Nobody wants Ellis for his pass rush skills.Eskimo said:I like the deal overall and think it would make sense for both teams.
Denver ran a bit of a gimmick defense this year that minimized the weakness of their DL but they don't have anyone that is as accomplished as a pass rusher as Ellis. He could help shore up that area of their team.
As for Dallas, the team will definitely be weaker without Ellis but him and BP appear to be butting heads. If we can get something of value for him, we probably should. I wouldn't expect anything better than a 3rd rounder for him given his age and the situation in Big D.

Eskimo said:I bet there are a lot of people on this board that want to keep Ellis for his pass rush skills. He has led us in sacks the past 5 years and has had 7-9 sacks the last four years. Players like that don't grow on trees. Furthermore, players who put up those kinds of numbers usually get about $5M/year in today's DE market.
BTW, he had more sacks than anybody on Denver's defense and he did this as a part-time player.
The Ellis bashing never ceases on this board.
So you think Ellis will get $5 million a year?Eskimo said:I bet there are a lot of people on this board that want to keep Ellis for his pass rush skills. btw: leading the Cowboys in sacks the last five years is hardly a glowing endorsement. No bashing here, just an observation. I guess if I say another team wouldn't jump at the chance to trade for Ellis I'm bashing.

wileedog said:The cap savings for cutting or trading him are not worth it. I would absolutely keep Ellis, although he probably won't be too happy about it.
Glover OTOH....

Eskimo said:fully expect him to be cut or take a gigantic renegotiation. No team will be interested in trading for him with only one year left on his deal with a huge cap number.
