Ware,Aaron glenn,TNew --- I never said Roy was worthless, hes a run coverage safety, too slow for pass.period.I dont think we should or would ever let him go,he is obviously a great athlete in general.I was just asking what u guys think. How about this, troy palamalu at free safety and roy at SS.Imagine that pipedream.:)
I'd rather keep Roy at SS and draft Laron Landry from LSU because I think he's going to be hands down the best FS in the NFL by his 2nd or 3rd year and will stay there for a long time.

So your theory is Roy is bad in coverage and to rectify that you want to trade him for a safety who is not good in coverage BRILLIANT

I love Palamalu and recognize him as a great Safety, but I would not trade Roy Williams for him...we'd be in the exact same position we are in now...we'd have a SS who might be a tiny bit better in coverage, a little quicker, but not the explosive player Roy is...yet we'd still be pairing him with a weak FS and scheme that would allow teams to exploit his weaknesses just as is happening with Roy.

Palamalu is a very good safety, and those who diss him as their way of supporting Roy are wrong...but he's not better than Roy...he's just playing on defense that allows him to play to his strengths...and he still gets beaten from time to time.

You know putting "period" after a statement only makes it a fact in your mind. So you named three players, one that isn't a starter, Ware is having a good year but can disappear during games and over pursue-it's OK for him to make mistakes and not Roy though. I guess we need to replace everybody else on that side of the ball.

...I don't get all this Roy hate, he is putting in one of the best defensive performances on the team, why not improve the real problems?

Because when one chimpanzee starts whooping, it gets the others riled up. Pretty soon every chimp in the tribe is jumping up and down and screetching whooping about everything and nothing in particular. I mean, everyone else is doing it!

When they get another banana, they'll all settle down. For a while.

Right on. They are essentially the same player. Troy may be a little faster, but that doesn't make him better in coverage. They have the same strengths and weaknesses to their game. I would not see a trade of the two to be either a significant upgrade or drop off.

I don't see where Roy is lost in coverage. I have never thought he was great in coverage, but he certainly isn't lost. I saw him lined up one on one with Devery Henderson who is probably the fastest guy on the Saints team. With no pressure on Brees, Henderson was able to run a deep post and corner route. I don't think many safeties will be able to do much against that most of the time.

You realize Troy is horrible in space, they use him as a LB in the nickle since his coverage skills suck, he routinly get smoked. He used the way we want Roy to be used.

Polamalu gets beat as often as Roy does and makes less plays. He also gets to play LB in their nickel package. No thanks.

I'd like to see us get some quality, but they don't have to be great, free safeties next season. Hopefully Watkins will get there next season and we can pick up a rather inexpensive FA as well. If they can be decent enough in coverage where Parcells feels comfortable with them, we could then put Roy at LB in the nickel and our nickel package would improve dramatically as we'd have the safeties to protect against the deep ball and Roy would be a tremendous improvement in coverage over either Bradie or Burnett.

YES, unless he can get back together with Kelly Roland! Then he stays. Maybe she and Jessica Simpson can sing the National Anthem together.

i don't think there is a gm in the nfl who would make that trade. you wonder why not many cowboys in the h.o.f. when there own fans see everyone else in the league as better than what we have.
