They all hurt.....the NFC championship losses to the Niners and the SB losses to Pittsburgh. I was 5 when we lost to the Colts and I remember crying and couldn't figure out why....so No it would be a great season but got to close it out.

No, you just don't go into the Lombardi contest with just participating. You have shown more than just that, to arrive on the carpet for the start of that game.

What does that make going 8-8 and missing the playoffs? Getting jabbed in both eyes, the nose, the solar plexus, and the larynx?

No playoffs, and I'm 'giving him the business.'

considering Dallas hasn't won past 2nd round of playoff since 1995 (19 years ago) I would consider any wins past 2nd round a resounding success.

No, no, no.

After living with the 70s losses, I can tell you that I've NEVER gotten over those losses, and as I see it, we still owe the Steelers and the Colts.

For those who haven't been through it, you never get over being the first loser.

For me, I'd take a couple of playoff wins and then a loss, because you can use that as motivation going into the next year. It would sting, but eventually you heal.

A Super Bowl loss is the scar that never goes away.

It's better than not making the playoffs.

It's better than losing in the Wild Card round.

It's better than losing in the Divisional round.

It's better than losing in the NFC Championship Game.
Yes, i'll give you that BUT.........That one is the world championship.

Hell, most around here are on the ledge if we are losing a regular season game at half time.

The pain is not days or Months.....it lingers for the rest of your natural life. And, is discussed yearly among all fans. it's special.

Please, take it from us older folks that have been there. One of those leaves scars.

I've seen the Spurs lose NBA Finals. I've seen the Rangers lose two World Series. I've seen the Longhorns lose an NCAA title game. Seeing the Cowboys lose a Super Bowl wouldn't be outside the experience.

thrilled to have a SB loss but if we get there, I will drink enough Grey Goose until I forgot I made that devil's deal. And.... I will hate the loss like consecutive root canals.

With the pre-season prognostications of 6-10 or 7-9 at best by many here AND the media. anyone who didn't deem a Super Bowl appearance a success would be a full blown douchebag, honestly.

Disclaimer: I haven't read one other post int this thread, so if I offended any previous posters: Get over it.

it's not about success..NO..No..No..

The dang thread said "Would you be happy with a Super Bowl Loss?" two totally different things my Cowboys brother. Our Cowboys could have a successful year before they lost the Super Bowl.

That kinda like getting almost to your happy place and the phone rings...lol!!!!

You are correct, sir. Success and happy with are two different things (humbly raises his own douchebag flag).

I'd still be happy with the team and their effort. The result, not as much but I would still be damned proud of them.

Of course making it would be awesome. Losing it would be awful.

How would you feel about this?

Would you consider the season a success?

That's devastating just to think about. Sheesh!… My heart would be broken. But after a few weeks, I would be proud as hell of this team that was supposed to be one of the worst in the NFL. I would be very excited about the direction we are heading in, which I do now, as well.

Hell no. I hated losing those Super Bowls to the Steelers. We were robbed in one of them. They stay with you always.

If we crushed the Niners 55-0 in the playoffs,

the Seahawks 55-0 in the playoffs,

the Eagles 55-0 in the playoffs,

then lost to the Chiefs or Bills (a tolerable AFC opponent - not the Patriots, Steelers , Broncos or Colts) in the Super Bowl by a tolerable score - say, 34-24 - well, I might actually not be TOO sad.

I agree. I still remember every Super Bowl loss (even the Colts one) and it really does hurt and the hurt never really goes away. The numerous other playoff losses are bad, but most go away and I can't really remember them (the "Catch" being the exception).

I mean let's face it, think of all the teams that have been to the Super Bowl multiple times and haven't won. They are all labeled losers even though they were the best in their conference.
