Would you be happy with a Super Bowl loss?

If we crushed the Niners 55-0 in the playoffs,

the Seahawks 55-0 in the playoffs,

the Eagles 55-0 in the playoffs,

then lost to the Chiefs or Bills (a tolerable AFC opponent - not the Patriots, Steelers , Broncos or Colts) in the Super Bowl by a tolerable score - say, 34-24 - well, I might actually not be TOO sad.

Sounds like the Bills of the 1990s who obliterated everyone in the playoffs until the inevitably got obliterated themselves in thre Superbowl.

Ask Vikings and Bills fans if they get all warm and fuzzy about not winning the world's biggest game.

They made it four times each, so they must be pumped.

Did you feel this way about "The Catch" and the 1994 NFC Championship Game?

That was the sickest feeling I've had being a Cowboys fan. Even worse than the SB losses to the Steelers .

Oh, I fully admit that I've hated the last 19 years, and sure, it'd be great to make some noise for the first time in forever.

That said, I know younger fans (and people for that matter) love to question the wisdom of their elders (I did), but trust me (and the other olds), you DO NOT WANT TO LOSE A SUPERBOWL.

Postscript: Losing a playoff game is one thing, but losing in gut-wrenching style is also very painful (e.g. The Catch, Romo's bobble, etc.), so I'm not going to pretend that losses are all rainbows and roses either, but the SB loss is at a whole other level.

So you'd rather not be there because there's a chance you may lose?

As a Royals fan, I wasn't happy with a World Series loss, I'm certainly not going to be happy about a Cowboys Superbowl loss.

no would rather lose in the NFC championship game unless it is against the Eagles then i would take the Super Bowl loss just to prevent them from advancing to the Super Bowl.

I didn't say I didn't want to be there. I said I don't want to lose.

It's not a difficult concept.

It's not a difficult concept.

Just like getting there and not being guaranteed a victory is not a difficult concept.

Folks who are still bothered by a football teams loss forty years ago got some issues.

Unless you're talking like that to sound cool to your internet friends and so folks that don't 'know' you can realize how long you been a fan.

Either way.

The argument that you'd rather not make it then suffer the loss is weak.

After the last past 19 years you bet your sweet bippy id be happy with a SB loss. Id love a win but dont think we have the D-firepower to stop teams like Denver.

I don't quite understand why losing the SB is worse than not being there at all to many, but maybe it's because it's etched on people's minds.

Like the WR dropping what would have been the winning TD pass as time ran out...he could have dropped the pass any time in the game, but it's when he dropped it.

What if the game went in such a manner that we were in position to win, but didn't? If we look back and gnash our teeth because of a bad call, or bounce, or coaching decision, or turnover? What if we're up by 4 with 3 minutes to go, only to give up a game winning TD? I don't care at that point about how unexpected it would be for us to even be there, the idea that would be so close, and have the championship in our grasp, only to lose it...that pain would be excruciating.

I mean, maybe we just flat get beat by a better team, like Denver did last year. But still.

Even though it would mean we had an incredibly successful season, I can't see how there's any way I would happy with a SB loss. There would be significant disappointment, it would just depend on the level.
