Would you be interested in Cordarelle Patterson?

He would be filling in at times. You have to think we have Lamb, Cooks, Gallup, Pollard, so he would be just getting in there at times. Also, he could kills three roster spots and allow you to keep other guys on the team from camp. Personally, I want to see what we have in Cropper. But I'm probably biased.
I would argue the thst his is the type of depth that teams with aspirations for the Super Bowl need.

We are not a team stockpiling talent for 2-3 years down the road.

If you wan to win now, there’s a place for players like Patterson on the roster.

Bring him in for Gallimore (as reported) and let’s see what happens. If our unproven free agents and draft picks can displace a *seven time* all pro and all we give us is a guy we don’t have a spot for, then I’m all in. Let’s see them step up and earn their spot *now*.

Here's what often happens with WR/RB's entering their 11th year:

- They wake up one Monday morning and they realize they just don't love football as much as they did
or
- They wake up one Monday morning and they realize they just can't play football as well as they did

I respect the guy. Maybe he's still got something. Just not a gamble I would want to make.
What’s the gamble?

Gsllimore? I don’t think anyone around here is banking on that guy being a difference maker.

It’s a question of Atlanta not having a spot and the Cowboys having a need for this guys toolkit.

That Gallimore trade package was never "reported." It's never been rumored at all. That was purely blogger Evan Reier's proposed trade...his version of June clickbait.

What’s the gamble?
4.2 million$ cap hit, a roster spot and probably a 7th or 6th round pick. I'd get someone else.

Heavy.com proposes a trade between the Falcons and the Cowboys, offloading Atlanta's Patterson for a role player in Dallas defensive lineman Neville Gallimore.

No offense to Gallimore, but Atlanta cannot be that desperate on the D-line.
Heavy.com?????? Oh brother. Their own comment about Gallimore tells me all I need to know.

and since Patterson is not a punt returner ... you then would have to immediately deal with trying to get a very capable punt returner - after just getting rid of a pro bowl returner in Turpin ?

Patterson is a freak athletically & would love to have him on the team. Guy doesn't move like his age.

You could say it would slow some of your younger guys that you brought in to do what he does. But if it ends up you can't trust them, and he fits that role we're looking for that Cropper, Luepke, Vaughn, Roberson, Etcetera, have to look for a veteran like a T.Y. type guy, he would be worth kicking the tires. You know what you get from him. And he would be better at what he does in Dallas because we have two WRs to occupy defenders.

I like Turpin. I just know we can do better than his performance last year. I was turned up on him coming into camp last year, but he truly was middle-of-the-pack, statistically, just got the popularity vote, which is all the Pro Bowl really is. Not always the best players, just the most popular ones. So, I know we can improve.

That said, I'm not writing the dude off. I respect his game. I would just like to see him deliver and take it to the house. Hard decision. I wouldn't want to be the one to have to cut Turp. Most importantly, in his defense, he had to have been worn out. You could see it, with him patting the ball. And all of that. He's not bad though either. So I can see why he makes the roster, as a returner.

Falcons suck but they have a good o-line. Here's what their top carriers delivered:

Tyler Allgeier.................4.9
Cordarrelle Patterson....4.8
Marcus Mariota.............5.2
Caleb Huntley...............4.8
Avery Williams..............5.0

Patterson wasn't as special as his blockers. And even worse he could only average 3.9 yards per pass target.

10-year vet...I'll pass.
His receptions were that of a back.

Patterson would be a great compliment to what we do here.

Yes, I agree with you. He would be a good fit. Then again. I also think players like Vaughn, Brooks, Cropper are fits. Or could potentially be fits. Then, there's also Rojo, who I think people are underestimating. I want to see him flex a bit in the slot. He could do it. I see him as a RB/WR threat. In fact, I think that's why they brought him in. I think the rotation is Pollard, Rojo, Vaughn, Luepke, with Dowdle as the PS call up. That's your best room right there.

Are you saying Turpin is involved in the deal? Otherwise you just keep both of them. Patterson will be used more as an rb2 than anything else.

Turpin needed to rest and have an NFL offseason. He played football year round. I think he's going to be better this year.

Patterson would be a great move imo… every team needs savvy vets that fill key roles— and Patterson would certainly tick that box:

— Returner
— #4 WR
— RB depth
— Gadget back

There is no downside IMO. He won’t break the bank, makes you better in multiple phases, and stresses the defense out with another mismatch they have to prep and account for.

He simply does more and brings more value than Turpin. Perfect example of a quality roster churn opportunity
