Would you be mad if Seattle offered a Earl Thomas for David Irving straight up trade?

Why is everyone so concerned with salaries? Ok, you worry about having cap room to improve your team via FA, but this team won't go after any free agents that can take it to the next level. You worry about cap space to sign your own Free agents but with this teams record I don't care who we lose really. For example if we loss Martin I'd be disappointed but you can't keep this line together forever anyways.

Meh, hoopla is hoopla, Irving will be here, Earl in Seattle. All this started with an Earl tweet and grew with a new secondary coach.

Irving = headcase, at least that's the skinny on his issues

Thomas = much needed S wanting to be a Cowboy. Healthy he is one of the best, SEA would want more. We spoiled them giving them 2 1sts for Galloway.

The DL needs a run stuffing DT to keep the OL off the LB's. Irving is expendable and the secondary is need of a leader. Still have Charleton and Tapper that haven't played enough.

1 yr 10.4mil left. So he could easily be extended and restrucutred this yrs base.

And hes not on the downside of his career. 88tackles 2int 7 pdef 1 ff 1 td

Dang those are Byron-esque numbers. 1 int, 87 tackles, 5 pdef 1 TD. For that you'd pay 8.5 mill? Past history not withstanding

He would be the Defensive QB

With the new DB coach he could really help

His numbers over the past two years are no better than Byron Jones'. I know he was injured in 2016 and he's had better years than 2016 and 2017 but still. He is 29 years old. Maybe but I'm not all rah rah on it like some. Not rah rah on Byron either though

I really wanted Weddle two years ago

EThomas would add much needed knowledge and a different set of eyes to this young secondary

EThomas, BJones. Heath. KFrazier, XWoods would make for a great group of Safeties

Unless there's something going on with Irving behind the scenes, which is very possible if the reports of the Cowboys disinterest in keeping him are to be believed, I wouldn't be interested in that trade.

Guys that can get to the QB aren't in abundance and a player openly campaigning to play elsewhere while he's in uniform just rubs me the wrong way. That was a major league d-bag move by Thomas and you'd all agree with me if he did it in a Cowboys' jersey.

Perhaps. Difficult to debate without any proof. Sometimes you just have to go all in I suppose. Not convinced he's the guy I'd go all in with that's all. BTW, Weddle has far better stats than Thomas over the past two years

Yeah, I posed this question the other day. Maybe another way to ask for it is 'would you give up a 2nd rounder for Thomas in the last year of his deal?' Since we're likely going to hand the 2nd round tender on Irving, that gives you a sense of how we probably value him, meaning, we'd take the 2nd if someone wanted to cough it up. Would we give the same for a quality S on his last contract? Assuming you could extend him on a deal you could live with?

I would. I like the chances of replacing the impact DL better than the chances of finding an impact S. And I don't really trust Irving, long term.

He saw the writing on the wall and was looking out for #1...... that shows me he is smart and aggressive

I'll acquiesce to the guys who know Thomas' play better than I do. All I have to go on is stats and over the past two years they're no better than Byron's. I know different system different team but there is no Cam Chancellor here.

I do think the Boys will dangle Irving with a second round tender, whether anyone takes the bait is the question. Wouldn't be mad if we negotiated with Seattle for Thomas just minor trepidation
