Would you be mad if Seattle offered a Earl Thomas for David Irving straight up trade?

Straight up? Yea, I'd do that. Earl can still ball, and the secondary could use a more consistent playmaker. Plus I think he could be a good mentor/model for our young secondary, help them grow.

Irving has a lot of potential, but needs to actually be on the field more. Not sure the Cowboys are going to keep him long-term anyway, we'll see.

We need to get to Aaron Rodgers.

Earl Thomas is a stud but he won’t be a deciding factor in the getting past Aaron Rodgers hump.

Chiefs won't put him in the practice squad otherwise.

Talent wise no
Irving is much younger and has shown he can be a dominate player when on the field
That said I suspect there is something with him that scared the team. It’s not injury issues, we’ve signed guys with as many if not more. The suspension issue comes down to do you trust him to put that behind him
The rumors of not participating in off season programs, late to meeting and all are concerning
The kid is super talented but can you trust him to get serious and put football first
That’s the issue that we don’t know the answer too and the team has to figure out

Not a chance. Earl wants to play here. BAD. I want that same thing.

I'd actually be fine with it. I like Irving, and I think the guy is good, but I'm not sure Dallas can retain him much longer and still pay for players that are honestly more important like Lawrence.

And besides, I'm not sure the Cowboys philosophy of not bringing in older players from time to time is the wisest. Sure, you can argue progress stopper. You could honestly argue as well that a leader and mentor could be had from someone like Thomas, or a couple of years ago Freeney.

Neither here nor there, I don't see any of this happening. More advocating that Dallas should occasionally consider an older player with some left in the tank. It's not always a logjam.

General rules to live by...

You don't trade youth for age.

You don't trade big for skinny.

I honestly think Earl Thomas would play really hard here - His Favorite team - I also think he sees a Very Up and Coming Secondary & Team his veteran/ Superbowl leadership would really go a long way with our boys in the secondary he can also make up for some mistakes i am sure !

Thomas would be a great addition, no doubt. I don't see us trading for him though, and I do think Xavier Woods is a starter for us next year.

Dallas already has a plan, they are going to release Irving instead of getting anything for him. That will teach him.

Trade him with Irving for a 4th that can turn into a 3rd if the right markers are hit.
