Would you be mad if the Cowboys spent more on outside FA this year, than resigning their own?

Would it bother if you the cowboys lost the free agents on this team as we did last off season, if we were actively signing free agents from other teams? Not bottom barrel players, and not EVERY top free agent at each position, but some guys that could come in here and give us good play at a decent price point. What would your thoughts be on this???

No. I'm not as loyal to players as Jerry is though. A lot depends on what kind of FA's the Cowboys were signing. Signing a bunch of aging vets to one year deals doesn't thrill me. If we signed some of those guys you suggest that could come in and give us decent pay and a decent price I'd say get as many as we can.

I don't know all the Cowboys FAs but I want to keep Jourdan and Gholston. Actually, wouldn't mind keeping Cooks too, given our WR room is pretty thin and I feel like he was playing pretty well when he was healthy.

That said, we need DT and LB help as always so that's priority.

if you aren’t good enough to win (I think we have too many holes) then let players leave and get more draft capital, then when “around the rim” spend. Going 15+ years without really spending in FA isn’t acceptable. Neither is drafting for need. Get some good players in here and the bring in plus FA’s around them to fill holes when the time comes. Drafting for need while hanging around the rim has knocked us out of contention in the short term unfortunately. Accept it and move forward.

why would anyone be mad. we had the 29th ranked run defense. we had the 31st ranked defense over all...why bring back the same guys who contributed (or lack there of) to this mess.

the challenge is FAs who are good are going to be over priced. so jerry will resign a couple of our own guys cheap, claiming contract issues and cap issues.
then sign a few jags and cross his fingers. and then mid year next year, when defense still sucks, he will say, we expected x, got y and we are going to address this, and our hands were tied and the young guys we drafted in the 6th and 7th round are just not playing at the level we expect and the spin continues.

this thing, with cowboys and jerry jones is about to explode like a sack of poop being dropped from 20 story building. just wait until 2025. it will be much worse.

Nope. Go get Tee Higgins and quit wasting time on all these project WR’s and draft picks. Bring someone in that you know can play.
No..Draft a WR in 1st round then Aaron Jones..Higgins 30M vs Jones 8M

Use the draft to fill positions that have a high success rate. Use free agency to target difference makers.

If there is a player that is a generational type talent, take him. But also prioritize the positions that are more important. Running back is important, but there are a lot of teams that make due with committees at running back. Look at the Chiefs. WR's are important, but nowadays it seems like scheme is more important. You have to develop strong lines. Right now Dallas does not have a strong offensive line or a strong defensive line. We have some pieces but not enough.

Develop a system that works and draft players for that system. If you want to be a road grading pound the ball team, draft and sign players that fit the mold. If you are gonna run a zone defense, don't target man corners. It's really not that hard.

People talk about Barkley and how he suddenly is unstoppable. He didn't just somehow power up over the last year. He went to a team with one of the best offensive lines there is. Same with Detroit, their O line is opening holes for whoever is in the backfield.

Our glory days were tied to having the best OL and DL. We prioritized those positions. It was successful. Fads come and go, but building the lines never goes out of style.

The objective is to improve the talent on the roster not keep our pet cats.
So you're fine if we didn't retain our guys??? (Not bashing you in anyway) things happen! I'm not up to the idea of giving OSA possibly 20 million and paying him like he's a stud, giving Gholston over 10 million when he's a rotational player. Might as well draft or pick up someone that's possibly able to give you more at a better price if possible
