Would you like to see Drew Bledsoe back next year?

Drew finished with an 83.7 rating with 23 TDs and 17 INTs and 3639 yards - second highest in Dallas history. He had his second straight winning season, but only had 10 TDs 11 INTs over the second half. Should he return for 2006?

I voted yes. I know some Bills fans gave us the rundown on Bledsoe and how he fades in the second half of the year but I can't help but remember how great that offense looked until Flozell went down, Rob started having some huge problems, and other factors. Give him protection and he'll get the job done, but I think the biggest reason is because I don't know who the Cowboys could bring in next year as a better alternative. Daunte Culpepper is the only name I've heard who I think could give Bledsoe a run for his money, but we'd have to lose draft picks for him, and if he was released, it's probably because that injury isn't getting better.

I voted "No".

Before the season started I said I would be very happy if Bledsoe was able to maintain an 85 passer rating.

And he did not.

At times he was terrific... other times dreadful. Yeah, the offensive line pass blocking was poor, but his lack of athletic ability made it even worse.

But the reason I don't want to see him back is that he'll be 34 next year... there is no "upside" to Drew-- None.

He is what he is.

He's probably good enough to get us into the playoffs but not much more than that. I don't see us being legit super bowl contenders with him at the helm. He has too many flaws that are easily defensed... even with an improved offensive line.

Drew's second year in Buffalo was far worse than his first. I expect the same here. Defenses know how to play him given this type of offense.

It's time to move on and take a stab at a younger guy with more athletic ability and more upside to his game.

But...I'd like to see an open competition...for once...I'd like to see Parcells use the same rules for the QB position and for "his" guys as he does for everyone else....that is, they must WIN the job.

IMO, BP is here to set the team in the right direction. We won't win a SB with BP IMO, especially if he opts out after next year or even this year.

He is however making the team better, overall.

Bledsoe is not the answer for this team's future and we might as well address the QB situation NOW.

I would hate to be in a position of having the defense gelling and the offense getting better, then having to address the QB and delay the process longer.

Bledsoe is our best option NOW, but he's not our future and IMO we should be addressing the future.

Mornin MW.

It ain't gonna happen. Parcells will never start a young guy...and the longer we get into his tenure, the less chance we have of seeing it.

The irony is, he won't start a young guy because he doesn't have the patience for the mistakes....yet he will stick with Testaverde and Bledsoe....two prolific mistake machines.

I liked the guts Bledsoe displayed. I think he has value. I'd just like to see a legit competition for the QB spot.

Ya know MW, I keep looking at Antonio Bryant and realize that although he way of expressing his displeasure wasn't good...that players behind a "Parcells guy" must get very frustrated at the lack of fairness and the hypocrisy of an unfair "competition"

I voted no, but I have a reason. I would vote Yes if BP would have an honest and open competition next year for the QB spot. When I say open and honest, I mean just don't hand Bledsoe the job.

In pre-season and TC let each QB (Henson, Romo..New guy ?) each get to work with the 1st team...Example, Henson kneeling on the ground with a chance to run the 2 minute offense in pre-season vs. Bledsoe the next week being allowed to run it in basically the same senerio.

Bledsoe did good, with good protection, better than I thought he would. He played bad when rushed. Maybe, just maybe another QB would have done better who was more mobile when we had the O-line breakdowns. But we will never know because BP was not willing to try it.

Bledso had what, 2 INT's yesterday ? Had he started romo or Henson and they had even 1 INT they would have been yanked.

So I vote "NO" because BP will go with Bledsoe no matter what. If he was open to fair competition, I would say yes.

Thje protection was God-awful this year. I really think with a decent offensive line Bledsoe could play lights out for a full year.

Bledsoe is our QB for 2006 and don't be surpised if he gets an extension this year to be our QB through 2007 or 2008...

He is the least of our problems...

Let's get some LEGIT O-lineman and a kicker for starters....

He is better than anything we have is true. But he needs some competition. We need better QB play if we want to win in the playoffs. Some of that can be blamed on the poor o-line play. That will be improved this off season. Winky is right when he says that Bledsoe is what he is. So we need to improve everything around him that we can. Get the running game fixed and take Bledsoe out of the firing line will help a ton.

His rating was 85 until his final pass of the season which was a meaningless interception with the team trailing by 10 with 20 seconds to go. So you must have been psyched to see those two late INTS! It's like you were right all along!

This year we had one of the worst O-lines in the NFL. That Drew still had as many TDs as Troy ever did along with 200 more yards than Troy ever did says something. He delivered 5 game winning drives, four ending on a touchdown pass. His rating of 84 tied his 1996 Super Bowl Pro-Bowl season rating.

That pure and simple BS. Mike Winicki is a Dallas Cowboys fan. Claiming he wanted or rooted for an INT is garbage.

Prior to the game the announcers said something like "If you want to rate the players and the season, base it on the first 15 games. This game should not influence your opinion of this team now that they have nothing to play for".

To hold the "85 rating" as a hard and fast rule despite the fact that Drew's rating was 86 on the season with 5 minutes to play in a meaningless game going into the fourth quarter proves that Winicki has an anti-Drew agenda (his final rating was just under 84, still a B). 85 is B. 84 is B. It's too close to base a season on one meaningless pass.
