Would you make this trade?

Taylor, who said this week he has no intentions to retire, is most likely planning a holdout and demanding a trade to a contender like Dallas where his brother-in-law and former teammate Zach Thomas ended up after he was cut in the offseason.

if that's so...

wouldn't you be willing to trade greg ellis and bobby carpenter for jason taylor?

No, Taylor makes too much and he is at the end of the line. You have to think about cap implications. Ellis is actually very productive and a bargain contract wise.

:hammer:

I'll go on record as someone who was sick of Ellis' annual whine-fest and wouldn't have been broken hearted (at one point) if we had shipped him out of here. That being said, in consideration of the relative production between Taylor and Ellis in comparison to their compensation, it would be beyond dumb for the Cowboys to even ponder such a move.

To me Ellis still plays like he is a "hungry" player.

I cant say that Jason Taylors heart is 100% still into football because I dont think it is.

Especially after the comment he made a few days ago where he said he wanted to be known for his acting more than football 10 years from now.

If all things are = I would take Taylor but Ellis is a good dude and a hard worker so you gotta go with him.

I wouldn't trade for him.

But if he was cut, I expect there would be 20 or more teams calling him. Folks can say end of the line but he's still playing at a very high level - if he can find a place where he can concentrate on rushing the passer, he can give another 4-5 good years. He's one of the best pass rushers in the history of the league and he certainly hasn't see a drop in performance

i wouldn't trade Ellis nor Carpenter for Taylor. But if Taylor's get cut cause Parcells wants him gone (just like he wanted Emmitt gone) & he wanted to play for Dallas for near minimum money (which I doubt) then Cowboys should consider it but it's there decision & I wouldn't second guess them. .

Ellis is younger, cheaper and had more sacks last year than Taylor. Why would I want to trade him AND a former first rounder that may see more time this year?

You don't think part of the trade would hinge on Taylor renegotiating his contract? I would trade Ellis for Taylor in a heartbeat, and the cowboys would be crazy not to. Ellis is solid, Taylor is an elite player. If Taylor wants out of Miami, he's going to be willing to take a salary cut.

No ! How Jacksonville hasn't got in the hunt for Taylor is beyond me . He'd be a perfect fit for them .

Even with a salary re-do, I'd prefer to get our own Spencer some time rather than Jason Taylor in a swan song season.

We are going for the superbowl this year. Spencer might be great, but he also might be a JAG. Taylor is an all pro. I'm all about developing our young talent, but if Spencer is so good- let him beat out Taylor.

Why on earth would you trade that much for a player that's about to be cut? We already gave the Titans too much for Pacman.

I'd give them a 6th round pick for him straight up right now, and that's if Jason agrees to restructure his contract.

No, just a 5th rounder.

cause they just drafted 2 more defensive ends.

I would do it in a heartbeat if taylor doesn't get cut

This year with our team we have a relativley young team but we have some aging vets where we are built to win now.

With jason taylor and ware and pacman and jenkins added to our secondary we would smash the patriots if they were to see us in the championship. Taylor and ware are way to quick to be blocked and our secondary can spread out against 4 deep.

Sign me up for jason taylor

I hope someone gets him from Bill quick...before Jerry gives Miami D.Ware AND next years 1st and 2nd rounders for him
