Would you make this trade?

Jason Taylor is a monster! 2 years ago he was the defensive NFL MVP. Last year he had 11 sacks on a pitiful team.

Chances are he's going to end up somewhere like NE and have another monster season.

I don't see it happening, but he would be an incredible addition to our defense.

What's funny is Parcells and his puppets question a player like Jason Taylor's manhood or commitment to the game when they never played a snap in the NFL.

The way they are reacting to his off-season escapades, you would think the guy was Jacob Rogers for crying out loud! Taylor is a future HOFer playing one of the toughest, most physically demanding positions in the game. Yet they act like he's nothing but a pretty boy. That's humorous to me.

No ! How Jacksonville hasn't got in the hunt for Taylor is beyond me . He'd be a perfect fit for them .

They now committed two 1st round picks to DE. They could use him, but he would tie up too much additional $$ at DE.

I'll go on record as someone who was sick of Ellis' annual whine-fest and wouldn't have been broken hearted (at one point) if we had shipped him out of here. That being said, in consideration of the relative production between Taylor and Ellis in comparison to their compensation, it would be beyond dumb for the Cowboys to even ponder such a move.

Uh, Jason taylor was DPOY in 2006, which is 'relative production'... Jason Taylor is way better than Greg Ellis..

its fair game to criticize him for it here, you have to wonder how committed the guy is to the game

You mean like Roy Williams? At least JT production hasn't suffered, though he has stated he wants to be known as an actor...

..we did that with TO when things got bad in Philly and look what happened.

No way we wanted to trade for TO because his original deal would have come with him.

Yes, you can redo a player's contract, but at Taylor's cap numbers, redoing it is still going to leave a bunch of salary cap to have to deal with at some point.

I don't think he's exactly in the same situation as Zach Thomas was when he was released because of the question of his health.

Taylor is still at the prime of his game right now.

Like Thomas, no way he's over the hill.

Wait and see how this plays out.

Miami is not under any pressure to do anything until after June if they want to pro-rate his cap hit or they may keep him on the roster thru TC to see who might warm up to a trade before the season starts.

So this could drag out for awhile.

And Miami has the leverage here.

We don't need him.

He'd be a luxury acquisition to get him and with several players whom we are looking to redo on their future contracts, not sure you want to bring in a guy like Jason Taylor and squeeze the cap like that.

We'll see.

if that's so...

wouldn't you be willing to trade greg ellis and bobby carpenter for jason taylor?

this has to be one of the superstars on defense that wants to come here

Fish later acknowledged the other one as Julius Peppers. Unfortunately, wanting to come here and his team being willing to let him come here are two radically different things. Question, if we could somehow acquire Peppers, would be play OLB or DE in a 3-4?

They were in the hunt, but Miami was steadfast in demanding a first round pick which was stupid. A third pick is probably the best can get right now.

For those questioning his desire to play football, i wouldn't. The guy just has no desire to play for the dolphins.

To me Ellis still plays like he is a "hungry" player.

I cant say that Jason Taylors heart is 100% still into football because I dont think it is.

Especially after the comment he made a few days ago where he said he wanted to be known for his acting more than football 10 years from now.

If all things are = I would take Taylor but Ellis is a good dude and a hard worker so you gotta go with him.

not that I'm endorsing the trade, but Talyor said that along with "because that is what I hope to be doing then." I would want to be more known for what I'm currently doing than something I did 6-7 years ago as well.

especially since they made it publicly known that they aren't going to let him practice......pretty stupid moves on BP & Co.'s part

he wasn't saying that he didn't care about his football career, or that he didn't want to be remembered for it. but he wants to get into acting, and be good enough at it to still be doing it 10 years from now. so, yes, 10 yearsfrom now, he'd like to better known for what he's doing THEN than what he (would have) done 10 years earlier.

it's not what you're making it out to be.

there are athletes who "act" and suck at it, so even when they're acting they're still considered athletes who are trying to act. he doesn't want to be one of those guys.

let it go.

Yeah I thought that might be the case.

EVEN IF he said he wanted to be remembered for acting more than football.... does anyone think that if he played on our team that he would go after the QB with less WRECKLESS ABANDON because of something he said in the context of what he was doing (acting/dancing)

I dont.

This guy plays in a ZONE.
