I was privileged to have been around for the 20+ years straight of making the playoffs during the Landry years. There were some Super Bowls sprinkled in there, but it was more enjoyable to me that the team was ALWAYS right there and, if that's the case, anything can happen. The Super Bowl to me isn't all that. Good grief, it isn't even a barometer of determining the best team each season. (9-7) Giants ring a bell?

Who would choose two? We've already made the playoffs plenty and failed to make the NFC Championship game.

A more logically one would be would you rather make the NFC Championship game and lose and then miss the playoffs 5 years in a row or continue to make the playoffs and and fail to make the NFC Championship game?

Do you think you'd feel the same about all those years of making the playoffs if none of them resulted in reaching the Super Bowl or winning it?

As Vince Lombardi said, "We run to win, not just to be in the race" and "If it doesn’t matter who wins or loses, then why do they keep score?"

1. Win a SB this year, then go 7-10 for the next 10 years, missing the playoffs each year

—or—

2. Make the playoffs 8 out of the next 10 years, but never advancing past the NFC Championship Game (or worse)

Why?
Take the SB every day any day.
Playoff appearances are nice but you are remembered for Lombardi's

It wasn't just 20 years of making the playoffs with some Super Bowls sprinkled in, we also made the NFC Championship 3 years in a row with Danny White, something we haven't done once in 27 years. I get what you're saying about not just caring about Super Bowls but I also don't want to just make the playoffs and lose. At least be a contender for the Super Bowl. The two times we were the #1 seed we lost the first game in the playoffs. We've massively underachieved.

Is death an option?
Oh, OK, gimme a Super Bowl.
And, who knows, maybe missing playoffs after we claim tha lone lombardini is a way to replenish our teams come the draft.

So the question is…..
Would we rather win the Super Bowl once, or never win the Super Bowl 10 times.

Super Bowl. Of course.

This question is really an appeal to zero sum thinking, which isn’t really grounds for a true debate, but …. In a world where there are *only* two possibilities. I think most of us want a Super Bowl and then deal with whatever happens later.
