My problem with our FO is that I do not believe they are fully committed to winning a SB.
Making money and staying 'relevant' is.
Oh, Jerrah desperately wants another SB trophy, he knows most people believe the last one was won by "Jimmy's team", and Jerrah didn't get all the credit for that win.

Problem is, he really believes he knows how to win SBs, despite 27 years of futility in trying to do so.

People with delusions of grandeur don't think like we do, the "gee, it's been 27 years, maybe I should hire a gm and try that".

He'll give up trying when he's dead....

It's shows how far this team has fallen, as polls like this keep popping up. It shows that the team is not good enough for neither option. In the Landry years; successful playoff campaigns, yielded championships.
The Patriots showed it can still be done; the Packers and Steelers are not far behind. Though it is certainly easier when you have a HOF QB.

People nowadays would run him out of town since he only one 2 superbowls in 28 years.

They would have hated him after Roger retired.

Reason i hate people nowadays.

Bold> It is really notable how many people do not perceive that but instead self-explain his inflexibility as simple greed and/or ego. The man has been filthy wealthy for decades. Practically everyone on Earth has a basic ego. His primary motivation is neither or those things. Never has been.

There have always been individuals, who think and act differently from how most people may think. I am not sure why some people do not see the same... uniqueness... in someone as transparent as Jerry Jones. It is not like he is a person who lurks in the shadows and no one ever hears a peep out of him, lol.

Right now, part of me says to go with #1, if for no other reason than to shut a whole lot of people up. But those same people that were temporarily shut up would then say we sold our souls for the Super Bowl when we’re no good for ten years. So they won’t truly be shut up. They’ll just have one talking point taken away.
And right now I’m going out of my way to watch every minute of every game because there’s a ‘chance’. I’m coming here to see and participate in discussion. If they’re consistently bad to mediocre, those things aren’t happening. I’ll be living my life, checking scores and highlights occasionally, but not really watching all that much. Call me a fair weather fan if you’d like, but that’s just my reality. I can’t bear to watch a continually bad product. I have to give it up to fans of teams who have NEVER won and seem to always be bad. Good for them, but that’s just not me. So for these reasons, I’m going with #2. I’d much rather have a reason to watch every year with a chance with some breaks to go all the way, even if it results in heartbreak at the end, than to not have a reason to watch.

Super bowl every time. To me being mediocre or a above average are the same. Its all about the big prize. You play to win the super bowl. Full stop

I was privileged to have been around for the 20+ years straight of making the playoffs during the Landry years. There were some Super Bowls sprinkled in there, but it was more enjoyable to me that the team was ALWAYS right there and, if that's the case, anything can happen. The Super Bowl to me isn't all that. Good grief, it isn't even a barometer of determining the best team each season. (9-7) Giants ring a bell?
Except in this hypothetical...."anything" can't happen. You know each year you will NEVER reach the Superbowl if you choose option 2. You'd only chose option 2 if ur meain goal was to simply be able to see as many games possible.

The top goal is always #1...but the question is make believe.

If 2 and winning for 8 to 10 straight years, a team will make it to the Super Bowl....Look at Buffalo or even San Francisco during the Cowboys dynasty.
That's why it's called a hypothetical question

Why can't it be both?
You don't achieve greatness with one year of success. The Cowboys should be able to contend every year, and win a Super Bowl every three or four years.
You think it just makes logical sense that the Cowboys should just naturally be able to win a Championship every 3 or 4 years, when there's 32 teams.

Wonder why other fans think we're entitled narcissistic fans?

Is that possible?

Has any team ever gone to the playoffs 8 times in 10 seasons and not reached the NFC championship game? I doubt it.

This is actually the goal of elite franchises, to be consistently good enough to reach the playoffs. Once there, anything can happen. Only half of the best teams in a season actually win a Super Bowl. There have been cases of teams that dominated the regular season only to fall in the division round. There is no guarantee and the element of luck does play a part.

That is why it is wiser to build a team capable of competing for a substantial amount of time. If a team is constantly in the thick of things then sooner or later they are going to win it all.

A team has a much better chance of getting in a Super Bowl if they are good enough to get in the playoffs 8 out of 10 seasons than they are if they go "all in" for one season.

I realize that the Bucs and Rams championship made it seem as though that is the way to go but there are more teams that tried that and failed.
Hehehhe

So you are taking option 2, because you think the highest-rated chance of us winning a SuperBowl is to chose the option where is predetermined we will never reach the SuperBowl regardless of how many times we're in the playoffs?

Logic and sports do not mix.

IT can be done; look at the Pats.

If they can do it why not us?

Superbowl. Heck after 95 I was kinda fine with the decline and a rebuild and didn't start to worry before 2010 lol.

But this now is just unacceptable. So winning a Superbowl just beats anything else. Wouldn't care if we sold our souls for it and and went back to nowhere for ten years. But then I'd expect them to rise back to the top in the 11th year.
