Would You Re-sign Newman ?

After this year isn't he a free agent? Usually players tend to always keep getting injured once they start having problems. Would we be better served letting him walk and put the $$ towards someone more durable ? I have no idea who'll be available but it is starting to scare me w/ him. This reminds me of the year that Deion had that toe problem and we kept on waiting for him to get healthy.

I'm pretty sure Newman isn't a free agent till after the 2008 season. Newman will probably be re-signed around the same way we did business with Bradie James and Roy Williams, around next year's training camp.

From KFFL:

Mac Engel, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the Dallas Cowboys have engaged in preliminary discussions with CB Terence Newman's agent over a new contract. Newman can't become a free agent until after the 2009 season.

Newman turns 30 soon I believe, but he's only had a little over 4 years of NFL experience. The sky is the limit for this guy. I can't wait to see his game when he's at his peak.

Yeah, I would resign him.

Next question.

If he can't become a FA until after the 2009 season, why sign him this early in 07. I presume it's because they might just want to get it out of the way now cause he'd be cheaper. Also it might help them decide what kind of parimeters to work with on Romo contract discussions.

Deal gets done this year,

we are $12M under cap and in both parties interest to do so. JJ to a fault has no issue paying performers.

Well better yet,

the wheels are in place to lock up Romo for $100M with $30M GUARANTEED . Who would have thunk that in 2004 and TNew gets a deal done as well. JJ has always paid his studs.

He rolled dice on Romo's contract and lost. Upside is after being robbed by Hutchinson and Henson on potential, he is finally getting tangible production and value out of Romo.

Now he pays.

He is wearing a sign on his chest saying "injury machine" right now, but yet I'm an *** to pose the question cause I have concerns about his health/durability ?:banghead:

So it's unanimous from y'all on here: sign a 30 year old corner whose body is showing signs of breaking down.

Sorry I posed such a bad question.

Because he has a foot/knee problem right now ! I've seen this too many times with players that hit about 30. Soon it'll be a shoulder/hammy...once players start getting injured they keep getting injured.

Go ask Bear fans about Mike Brown, or Jax fans about Fred Taylor, or Atl fans about John Abraham.....
