Would you take a #1 for Martellus Bennett now?

I would have taken it back a few weeks ago when it was first (rumored) offered. The guy has the tools to be real good, but he is not mature enough, doesn't take coaching well, and is a bit lazy mentally in game situations. He has to realize that he is playing behind a future HOF Tight End, and his day will come, but right now his head is not into it because its not all about him. He was a monster in preseason but his play has dropped off since then, not because of anything physical, but because of his attitude in my opinion.

2 #1s would have certainly come in handy when you have an aging oline with a significant drop off on the second string and you need blue chip offensive linemen from the draft.

i would have taken it at the time but it's rather silly to pick a bad time to have kept him and pretend this is all it will ever be.

witten gets hurt next week and is out for the rest of the year (i hope i didnt jinx him now) - NOW do you trade bennett?

you make or don't make the trade for long term goals and ride out the bad times that will always be there.

I would have bit their hand off for this deal at the time it was offered.

Dudes a *******, I doubt he will ever 'get' it.

No, give him a full season as a starter and the guy will mature quickly enough. His time will come but right now we have Witten...

well you have to ask yourself...would you trade Bennett for Carpenter, Spencer, Spears, Ekuban, Lafleur or Shante Carver?...or do you completely trust we get another Jenkins, Ware,or Newman?......he has shown what he is capable of last season and pre season this year..I still believe he has a bright future and depth is a good thing

I highly doubt we were ever seriously offered a 1st for Bennett.. the guy hasn't done anything in the nfl to warrant that high of a draft pick.

If Cincy calls back on draft day and offers a 2nd Id do it.

No I dont hate Marty. But OL is more important.

Whiners will find something to whine about, regardless. I've said it before and I'll say it again - in the event Dallas gets a postseason win or wins the Super Bowl, you will read at least 1 "yeah, but..." or whine thread within minutes of the conclusion of the game.

Another key drop from this clown might have something to do with it.

i think that is unknown right now.....i think Spencer is gonna be really good myself...but Bennett has the tools to be great ...he really hasnt had the opportunities yet...(and yes i know he had an opportunity Sunday and failed miserably)

No way. If we would have traded Bennett, he would have 700 yards by now.. he'd be the next freak TE, and we would be stupid for trading him.

I think letting him fully develop, and then bringing him on is a much smarter idea.

His body language on the field continues to be troubling.......
