Would you take Terrell McClain back?

If we don't pick up depth in the draft at the spot, I would consider a vet minimum deal with incentives.

Seems solid defenses use a good mixture of veteran experience and youth. Yes, at the vet minimum he could add depth. But I say no thanks for Mcclain. Prefer to try and add depth thru the draft. Again, he seemed solid when he played .
As for why we would do that, well, we don't always make great personnel decisions now do we. LOL

Nope. No more JAGS in free agency. Im not drafting a 1-tech at 19 AND signing one in free agency.

Save that $$ for actual difference makers.

Whats a JAG to you? McClain was a very solid player for us in 2016, evidenced by his big payday.

You know we arent signing a high priced free agent.

His money is approximately 1/10th of a difference maker, and he was a dofference maker for us in '16. He was part of the reason for our regression against the run last year. He's a difference maker.

Are y'all saying that 29 years old for a DT is ancient..? Im confused why we wouldnt do this.

People are clamoring over Poe and Logan who are 27 and 28 respectvely, yet claiming McClain should be in a retirement home at 29? What in the world?
I get it, but being on the cusp of 30 with that contract is not viable for a team trying to stay young. McClain was average to solid at best. So we want him back to watch him decline and impede? This team is already holding on to Witten waaaaaaaaaay too long at a position that will help the offense and Dak.

So no, I will pass on McClain. He was stop-gap while here, and now an older stop gap with more wear and tear on his body.

With what contract?
This isnt a discussion of claiming him on waivers, but rather signing him to a small contract aftee clearing waivers.

You say average to solid, and I agree. You need solid players. Getting one for cheap that we KNOW fits our scheme, it doesnt get much better than that.

Again Witten 35, McClain is 29. Those arent fair comparisons, and those two players have very little to do with each other.
