Would you take Terrell McClain back?

I will never understand how we have fans complaining about the lack of a 1T, throwing players such as Brian Price, Richard Ash, Paea, and moving Maliek out of position to 1T.

Yet dont want a 29 year old player thats shown he can thrive in our system without a large CAP commitment.

"But he's a stop gap".... A STOP GAP TO WHO? RICHARD ASH!?!?

He's probably dirt cheap. Why not? He was injury prone but he could play pretty well at a spot the front office has neglected for too long.

Whats a JAG to you? McClain was a very solid player for us in 2016, evidenced by his big payday.

You know we arent signing a high priced free agent.

His money is approximately 1/10th of a difference maker, and he was a dofference maker for us in '16. He was part of the reason for our regression against the run last year. He's a difference maker.
His 6.5 sacks in 74 career games points to JaG to me. Or maybe its his 75 career tackles.

He only had 2.5 sacks his last season with us, but was a very productive and disruptive.

Just looking at the sack column aa many do, doesnt tell the full story. Of his 6.5 sacks, 4 have come in the last two seasons. I dont see any reason to claim that he's on the downturn of his career. There would be no evidence to that claim. He might just now be hitting his stride.

Are y'all saying that 29 years old for a DT is ancient..? Im confused why we wouldnt do this.

People are clamoring over Poe and Logan who are 27 and 28 respectvely, yet claiming McClain should be in a retirement home at 29? What in the world?
Prolly because TMac has had trouble staying on the field his entire career. That's why he was available to us in the first place.

Since he's been healthy 2 years running, he might, indeed, just be hitting his stride. I don't mind him at all for 1.5 mil or so.

Agreed.

He's the equivalent to a spark plug off the bench in basketball. He wont get all the minutes(referncing McClains lack of snaps throughout his career), but is highly productive when on the field bringing a boost to the team.

Im tired of signing players from other teams hoping and praying they fit our scheme, like Cedric Thornton and Carr, at least if we sign McClain I know for certain he has a spot in our Dline rotation.

And the DLine is all about the rotation. It's not like I'd expect TMac to be the answer, just a great rotational player. And absolutely not for too much money.

The Thornton incident was just sad. We took a 3 tech and insisted on playing him at the one. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

For the money Tmac(I'm stealing this from you ksk) commands, he wouldnt even need to be a starter. Just a highly productive rotational guy as you and I said.

I'm going to predict that he will get something in the $1.05M-$1.25M AAV, if its a one year deal I bet its around that $1.25M figure.

And I would most gladly sign him for that.

Even if we draft Vea, we're going to need both a rotational guy w/ him and someone to help him learn the ropes of life in the NFL.

More importantly, would you take Rolando McClain back:):omg:

For that price you bring him back in a heartbeat. Our run defense was always much better with him healthy anyways.

Another great point, Ksk.

Im new to this forum. How did you double quote both ksk and I?

Would like to avoid taking up unnecessary space if I can prevent it.

Any post you hit the reply button on, it should put that post in the little type box at the bottom of the page. You can do this on more than one post and it will put both posts in the same little type box... Does that make sense?
