Would you Trade Milton?

Trade Milton would be a terrible decision. He’s making really heady plays, even under duress. He’s grown tremendously mentally and he might have the best natural arm talent in the NFL. That dime he threw to Mingo was perfect. Not trading my future
 
If he's generating that type of interest, it would be foolish for me not to be interested also in his future growth. He's Young, Dak isn't, what's the rush.

All depends on what I see from him. Were these last 2 games a flash in the pan, or has he progressed? The coaches should know the answer to that.
 
I’m getting where you’re coming from.

Milton really flashed a few times at Tennessee, and then regressed. He did the same at Michigan. He did the same in New England.

Now, he’s flashing again. Is that proof he has developed? Or is it proof that he has gifted arm talent and is a great athlete, but it’s just preseason and he’s playing backups running vanilla defenses?

People are pulling out the anointing oil pretty quickly. He has looked good, but he’s looked pretty good in stretches in the past.

I’d trade him for a really good OT. Because I’m not sold yet.
 
Keep him, trade Howell. He knows the system and it looks like that light is coming on. His physical traits are through the roof. If he continues to improve we might have a strong Dak replacement plan on the roster.
 
He might....MIGHT....have some team roll the dice and offer a 6th, or 7th.

Most teams have a guy like Milton on their roster already though: has a few nice traits, but never proven that he can be a starting QB.

Most NFL fans have never heard of him. Likewise....there's 25 other fanbases talking about THEIR version of Joe Milton right now....wondering if THEY could get a good haul for THEIR Joe Milton.

Would you zaney zoners like to give a 3rd round pick to some other team for their Joe Milton? No? Then there's ur answer. Other teams don't care about our Joe Milton any more than we care about theirs.

Super talented? Because he throws a nice spiral. I dont think anyone would pay much. He is a work in progress. Did decent in pre season. So do 10s of other QBs. Can he read a defense during season. Be accurate when it mattered. All of those are question marks. He is not starter material. He is barely a decent back up.

But us Cowboys fans see a pretty spiral and go gaga and think we can trade him for a bunch of draft picks and what not.

Somebody is going to call me Milton hater.
Somebody will somehow say I am defending Dak
 
I doubt you get an offer high enough to move him. I’d let 2026 players out. Maybe Milton gets an actual start or two which is where he could really increase his value. I’d shelf any trade talks for next offseason.
 
I see Milton having the kind of success Dak had during his 2016 preseason. And I still don't trust Dak's leg making it through an entire season. Just sayin.

No. And I'd rather continue to develop him for what we could get. Dak isn't going to last forever, and Milton is probably not the answer, but he's showing good development, can make all the throws and is a top-notch runner, too.

I don't know what you would get in return. Have to think it's the equilvant of a 4th or 5th round pick which I would pass on. The potential we've seen from Joe Milton this preseason is way more valuable if called upon in the regular season than trading him for a player or picks.

So, he’s valuable enough for someone to want him but not valuable enough to keep?

Is the target team one that has no QB2?
What is he going to fetch? A 5th would probably be the max you could hope for and that’s probably a stretch

We need a QB2 so I don’t see why we’d dump him unless you’re good with Howell.

No you don’t trade him. With the way qb play is in the league these days it would be dumb. If they believe in him keep him. Dak has what one year after this year. Dak is also getting up their in age and could get hurt.

It isn’t worth it. Honestly if Dak got injured I’d be fairly comfortable with Milton if he really has grown since last year. Otherwise we’re stuck with who knows
 
No way. If Dak was 23 then yes trade him. But Dak is 33 and injury prone so we most likely will need him this season.

Also if Milton continues to progress the way he is then he’s our future and that can affect how we move on from Dak or resigning Dak. Nothing against Dak personally but I don’t want to pay a 34 year old QB who is injury prone to another record breaking contract.
