Would you want to play in a weaker division?

It's relative and cyclical. There have been years when every other division is stronger and the NFC East is weaker and years when the NFC East is stronger and other divisions are weaker.

Besides, I've convinced the tougher the division, the better your chances of advancing to and winning the Super Bowl.

During the 90s, the winner of the NFC East - if the team advanced to the Super Bowl - basically could start engraving the Super Bowl trophy after they won the NFC Championship Game.
especially with Buffalo being there every year.

I wouldn't. Playing in a tougher division prepares you better for winning it all.

Look at past few years. Steelers won the Superbowl when they were the 6th seed. Giants did the same as 5th seed. Packers also won it all as 6th seed. Common thing for these teams are they all come from tough divisions. Tough divisions gets you ready for playoff competition much better. Look at Colts and Pats basically cakewalking into playoffs. Okay Pats are a different animal but still. I wouldn't change a thing about NFC East.

Also if we are speaking geographically it would make sense if Cowboys and Panthers swapped divisions.

There are plenty of tough teams to play in the playoffs.

Plus everyone plays an unbalanced schedule so we would play at least 4 division winners every year.

This is what I tend to think, too. It helps you keep your players focused on the things that let you win games against good teams. Now, it hurts your chances at the post season, but it probably helps you if you do, in fact, qualify. And we're Cowboys fans, so all we really care about are the Superbowls, anyway.

I am all for fixing the divisions to make sense.
West: Oak, SD, SF, SEA
South West: AZ, DAL, DEN, KC
Central: CHI, GB, MIN, STL
Mid East: CIN, CLE, DET, IND
Gulf: HOU, MIA, NO, TB
North East: BUF, NE, NYG,NYJ
East: BALT, PHI, PIT, WAS
South: ATL, CAR, JAX, TEN

how about
Dallas
N.O.
Houston
Arizona
Would save a lot of jet fuel !
It would actually be a tough div though.
And people would have to learn to hate new teams lol , no more eagles or giants!

Do I want to move them out of the NFC East? No.

But do I want the NFC East to be the best division in football? No. I want the Cowboys to be great and the rest of the division to suck.

So you want the cowboys to be the patriots NFC east.... Lol

Title says it all.

If you could take the Cowboys and switch them with any other team in football, would you do it? Why or why not?

If so, which team would you switch with, and why?

Personally, I wouldn't. There's too much rich history among the rivalries in the NFC East.

I could care less about the strength of the division, but tradition aside, I think I would prefer to see the Cowboys in a division with like-weather. And since St. Louis is closer to the Northeast then the Cowboys, it would make sense to have the Cowboys in the NFCW. I understand many old-timers might be upset by this breach in tradition, but the 49ers and Cardinals are old school rivals, as well. The Seahawks would likely escalate to a rival within the season. I know there are those who argue it doesn't matter, but I've seen too many Northerners walking around in what we perceive as cold in shorts and t-shirt to believe that.

Yes. I would rather cakewalk into the playoffs and give us more chances to win a Super Bowl.

I would miss the rivalries, but I think that is one of the big things the Pats have had going for them...the AFC East has been a joke.

YR

this...rivalries or superbowl appearances...i'll take superbowl appearances.

If it means an easier path to the playoffs I am all for a weak division. This kind of goes along with my other pet peeve of people that say they want to play other teams when the other team is at full strength (Patriots and Brady Suspension). Screw that! The only goal in the NFL is to get to the playoffs and win the SB. If the Cowboys win the SB this year, no one is going to look back at their schedule and put an asterisk next to the SB win because they beat a Bradyless Patriots team in week 5. They also are'nt going to look back and say a team got to the playoffs and won the SB because they are in a weak division.

We've had years in the East where the competition was intense and some where it wasn't that tough at all.

Most of them have been intense with another team or two, sometimes even three. It changes year to year.

Back in the nineties, we were good enough that most teams within our division were outplayed pretty badly.

You mean this year or in general?

Division strength changes every year, but regardless I say no.
