WoW - Favre wants release from Packers!

Ain't no way in hell they release him. It's either GB or the team of GB's choice. He really is a selfish little turd.

GB is not going to just release him, and if they trade him, it will be to a AFC team.

Baltimore or Minnesota or Jacksonville are my best bets.

No way Jacksonville gets Favre, They feel like they are set at qb with Garrard.

Here is what is clear to me.

Favre announces retirement because McC and TT told him he would have to WIN the starting QB job this season.

Now he wants out.

I think thats what happen also and it's crazy. He's a LEGEND in Green Bay and he's coming off a great year for him and his team. I tell ya, it's hard to find good QB play in the NFL, lord knows we Cowboy fans know that. We struggled big time after Troy left. The Pack don't know what they have in their backup but they damn sure know what they have in Favre. Their team made great strides last year with Favre at the controls, let the vet do his thing. And, he'll keep butts in the seats and sale tons of merchandise. This is silly to me!!!!!

I think Favres cap hit is like 12 million this year. At that price, I can't see GB finding a trade partner.

I hope he ends up with Baltimore so he can close out Texas Stadium with yet another loss to the Cowboys.

Agreed, Garrard just signed an extension, why would they waste a year of that contract and get Favre when they were contenders last year?

The Vikes are perfect for him. Great running game, indoors, and they just added speed to their WR's group. The Vikes will be all over him and I don't blame them...

Jacksonville just resigned their qb w/a similar contract to Romo's. More like Chicago, Minnesota, or Baltimore.

I don't see GB releasing him so he can sign with a rival.

The Packers hands are tied.

They don't want him, they have to release him.

They have zero leverage here.

His letter forces their hand.

I'll stick with my original prediction that he lands in Minnesota.

They're a playoff-caliber team that only needs a QB to be a Super Bowl contender.

Plus, their coach (Childress) worked for Andy Reid, who coached Favre at Green Bay.

The thought of Packers fans wailing as Favre trots out in a purple uniform makes me :laugh2: .

If they release him they have no control over where he signs.

They have all of the leverage. He retired and they put him on the retired list. They don't have to do anything with him. If he wants to come back GB has to take him off their retired list or he can wait until his contract runs out.

Why? If they don't want him, they have to release him. It's either, or!!!!!

Why do they HAVE to do anything? They can keep him from signing with a rival.

How do you figure? Like the article says, he's still property of the Packers. If he wants to play, they can force him to write the reinstatement letter, when they can trade him.

Loyalty is a two-way street. If I'm the Pack, I don't let him go so he can sign with Chicago or Minny and beat me twice a year. Which I could see happening.
